When I shot my video the spread was a bit lower, since the odds have settled, the total is right at where BetOnline opened it last night. I think the total is where we need to focus our attention tonight, so follow along as I handicap this number of 207.
While it was expected that he’d only play around 20 minutes, Eric Bledsoe played 32 minutes off the bench in his first game back on Wednesday, however it wasn’t enough against the Cavs, as the Suns dropped their third in a row. However with Bledsoe back in the lineup, it gives the Suns another big time scorer from the guard position, and it could move the Suns back into the playoff hunt if the 24-year old can stay healthy. Before Wednesday, he last played in late December.
I mentioned in my bi-weekly NBA call that it might be time for the Suns to start falling off, and it may be coming true. However once Bledsoe gets his legs back (he is obviously healthy after playing 32 minutes) he is going to be a huge force for this team. His return might have come at the perfect time for this team with how they have been playing over their last three games. Goran Dragic alone is not enough to make the playoffs in the West.
Bledsoe isn’t a lock down defender by any means, however the Suns have been giving up 112 points per game in their last ten games. His return should at the very least keep some of those misses off the board, and limit teams being able to run out on a fast break after a long jump shot. Bledsoe is one of the better young guards at getting an easy bucket at the rim, which this team really needs outside of Dragic.
The Sharp Pick
With how bad the Suns are playing on the defensive end, the C’s should have no issues scoring the ball at home tonight. It looks as if Boston will be able to get north of 100 points here, and that should ensure the over is the play. While they might not crack 100, getting into the mid to high 90s should be enough for the over to cash if the Suns show up.
The C’s haven’t been great on the defensive end either. In their last ten games, the Celtics are giving up 104 points per game, and with the Suns purging points over their last several games, Boston’s home scoring should be engaged tonight.
The Celtics were without Rajon Rondo the other night due to the game being on the second night of a back to back, however he should be back in uniform tonight. This should give the Celtics’ offense a huge bump, because as you can imagine, the Celtics’ offense doesn’t run as smoothly with Rondo sitting on the sidelines in a suit.
However with Rondo, and going against the Suns in Boston, this game will be very fast paced. I expect the Suns to play as fast as possible against the smaller Celtics, and with no post play from either team, I expect a ton of jump shots and long three pointers in this one. That should also run up the score, because even if they don’t go in, it will cause long rebounds, which typically lead to fast breaks. I fully expect the C’s to get sucked into Phoenix’s style tonight, and the total will likely go over because of it.My Pick: OVER 207
