The Minnesota Timberwolves (27-52) travel to the Moda Center to take on the Portland Trail Blazers (43-37). The Trail Blazers are favored by 8.5 points on the NBA odds board and the total is set at 214.5.

Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have won their last two games, including last Thursday's 105-97 road win against the Sacramento Kings. Gorgui Dieng led the way with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Zach LaVine and Nemanja Bjelica also finished with 18 points. LaVine made four 3-point shots as Minnesota led for most of the game.

The Timberwolves average 101.8 points per game and shoot 46.1 percent from the floor (eighth in the NBA) and 33.6 percent from three-point range and they pull down 41.6 rebounds per game. Minnesota allows 105.6 points per game and their opponents shoot 47.0 percent overall and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and grab 42.1 rebounds per game.

Andrew Wiggins leads the team with 20.8 points per game, Karl-Anthony Towns averages 18.2 points and team-bests with 10.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks and Zach LaVine adds 13.9 points per game.

Portland Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers are on a roll, winning six of their last seven games to secure a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Trail Blazers are coming off an impressive 120-115 home win against the Thunder behind 27 points from Al-Farouq Aminu and 26 points from C.J. McCollum. Portland scored a season-high for a first half with 72 points and they never looked back.

The Trail Blazers average 105.1 points per game (sixth in the league) on 44.9 percent shooting overall and 37.1 percent from beyond the arc (third in the NBA) and they grab 45.6 rebounds per game (fifth in the league). Defensively, Portland gives up 104.4 points per game and their opponents shoot 45.3 percent from the floor and 37.2 percent from three-point range and pull down 43.7 rebounds per game.

Damian Lillard leads the Trail Blazers with 25.0 points and 6.8 assists, C.J. McCollum averages 20.9 points and a team-best 1.2 steals and Allen Crabbe and Al-Farouq Aminu add 10.2 points per game each.

Betting Trends
The Timberwolves are 16-6 ATS when the total is greater than or equal to 210, 8-5 ATS as a road underdog of 6.5 to 9 points, 24-16 ATS in road games and 22-15 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record.

The Trail Blazers are 15-13 ATS when the total is greater than or equal to 210, 21-18 ATS in home games, 9-8 ATS in a home game where the total is greater than or equal to 210 and 8-4 ATS on Saturday games.

Final Analysis
The Trail Blazers are an 8.5-point favorite on the NBA odds board and the total has been set at 214.5. Portland leads the season series with Minnesota 3-0 but all three meetings were decided by six points or less.

The Timberwolves are playing well on the road; they even beat the Warriors 124-117 in overtime at ORACLE Arena, but the Trail Blazers need to win to improve their playoff position and avoid facing the Warriors, Spurs or Thunder in the first round, so this promises to be a fun to watch contest. I like the Trail Blazers to win but I expect another close game between these two teams so I'm taking the Timberwolves +8.5 with my NBA picks.
