 Thunder vs. Nets

Barclay's Center, Brooklyn, NY
7:30 p.m. ET

While the Nets have slowed down some recently, they are still playing at one of the fastest paces of any team this season. For instance, while they have slowed some in the first half of games since the beginning of March, they are still playing at a pace of nearly 102 possessions per 48 minutes and tonight that could go up against the Thunder.

The Thunder have also been playing faster this season. While that has a lot to do with Russell Westbrook being a one-man fast break, it is still a stat we can use to make a valuable play on the first half of this one.

Even with the total for the game going up, a better play might be taking the over on the first half. The Nets dropped nearly 70 points on the Knicks in the first half of their win a few nights ago and over their last five home games they have scored nearly 55 points per first half. That’s even with a game against the Grizzlies in there.

The Nets also play at a pace of nearly 104 possessions per 48 minutes in the first halves of their games this season and the Thunder aren’t far behind at 102. If we get more than 50 possessions for each team in the first half of this one, I am pretty positive we can get the over at 115.

Over their last five games, the Thunder have averaged 58 points per first half and against this Nets team, 60 points is not out of the question.

Two-Team Teaser

For the first leg of our two-team teaser, I’m going with the Pistons, who are on the road against the suddenly struggling Cavaliers. Cleveland is still down their two best shooters for this one, which makes defending the Cavs that much easier. Making sure Kyrie Irving isn’t getting open shots and keeping him and Lebron James out of the paint might be enough for the Pistons to get the over here.

However, adding them to a teaser is a no-brainer for me. Detroit has been playing better as of late and it starts with their defense. If they can make this an ugly, slow and generally half-court game, they are going to be able to cover their teaser odds.

The second leg has got to be the Knicks. Even though they are a bad basketball team, they are being slightly undervalued by the sportsbooks as +3 ½ home dogs. New York is 3-0 ATS in their last three games as home dogs and they are 8-7 ATS on the year when playing as the home dog.

Furthermore, the Pacers are awful on the road this season. They are only 13-20 ATS when playing away from Indy and as a road favorite they are just 3-6 ATS. Tack on another five points to a teaser and you have yourself a fine underdog teaser to make some cash tonight!
