The NBA season just concluded. It took until October to crown a champion, but we’ve done it. The Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Championship over the Miami Heat, giving LeBron James his fourth ring in his career. Now in the NBA Odds, the Lakers are sitting at +350 via BetOnline to repeat their title from this season. Next to the Lakers are the Clippers at +550 odds and the Golden State Warriors at +700 odds.

Finally, there’s a couple of East teams in the mix with the Milwaukee Bucks at +800, the Brooklyn Nets (with Kevin Durant returning) at +1200, and the Miami Heat also with +1200 odds on the best sports betting sites. Yes, the Heat have a higher projection than the Boston Celtics (+1400), and so it doesn’t come as a surprise as the Heat literally beat the Celtics to move onto the Finals.

Can the Lakers Repeat in 2021?

The Lakers went out and signed LeBron James and they traded for Anthony Davis just when everyone said the Lakers gave up too much. That wasn’t the case. The argument on giving up too much is now solely on the Clippers in their pursuit of Paul George.

When LeBron James is on your team, you’re automatically a contender. That’s just how things go. James has now won at least one championship with three teams in the NBA, which was something that had never been done before.

Of course, the Lakers will have to make sure that Anthony Davis re-signs with the team. Davis’ contract is up, but I don’t think there’s any question as to Davis returning. He’s loved his time with James and the Lakers and won’t leave after winning a title. Davis will have more on his shoulders as the years go by with James aging and unable to perform. So far, James has shown no signs of fatigue or anything like that. But it’s going to happen eventually.

Were the Miami Heat for real?

Jimmy Butler had faith in the Miami Heat and their franchise. He wanted to join a winning culture with a head coach that could help turn his talents into being a top tier play in the NBA. Butler was two games away from an NBA Championship with the Miami Heat. The team faced injuries and adversity and that never stopped Butler. They’ve built a team of individuals that were selfless and played as a team. They found premier shooters, great defenders and played out of their mind in the postseason.

This postseason won’t be forgotten. The Heat are for real as long as they keep all of their pieces. Brain Windhorst of ESPN explained that Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo have the same agent. If both of these players don’t sign extensions this off-season, the Miami Heat might bring in Giannis.

Both players are scheduled to be free agents after the 2020-2021 season, but if the Bucks notice that Giannis wants to leave, they’ll look to trade him away to get assets back in the upcoming season. That’s big news if you want to bet the Miami Heat at +1200 with your NBA picks. If Giannis goes to the Heat next season, the team would become the favorites in the East without any question.

The Nets Can Surprise with Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant spent all off season watching the Nets. Well, Kyrie Irving and Durant. Irving opted out of the remainder of the season, leaving the Nets no choice but to play with a bunch of role players in the bubble and postseason action. The team fought and showed heart, but the talent wasn’t there and the Nets ended up leaving the bubble after the first round of the NBA playoffs.

The Nets signed Steve Nash to be their head coach. It gives Brooklyn a bit of swag and an interesting outlook. Nash was one of the best point guards to ever play the game and will now share his brain with Durant, Irving, and the rest of the Nets. There’s even talk, currently, that Mike D’Antoni could be his assistant. How things turn in full circle. Nash played under D’Antoni in Phoenix, and now D’Antoni could potentially be his assistant.

There’s some who believe Kyrie Irving will do whatever it takes to ruin any team’s chances to win a title. He spoke in an Interview with The Putback and said he and Durant didn’t need a head coach. Maybe the comment was taken out of context but Durant and Irving always seem to be under fire for comments and decisions they’ve made in recent memory.

Still, you can’t debate the talent on the Nets roster. If they gel and play well together, the sky is absolutely the limit for the Nets. On paper, the Nets have a contending team and to be sitting at +1200, there’s absolutely value there with the top sportsbooks.
