We nailed our first two prop picks of the postseason and it’s time for more action courtesy of Bovada and BetOnline sportsbooks on tonight’s big Game 5 between the Spurs and Rockets.
Eric Gordon is set to enter the starting lineup tonight as the Rockets will go small with Ryan Anderson coming off the bench as the team’s backup center. Gordon started the season as the starter when Patrick Beverley was out and he played quite well in all 15 games he started this season.
Gordon has failed to score in double figures in just three of his nine playoff games heading into this one and while he is on the road in this one, in his four road games this season he is averaging 14 points per game.
That is more than LaMarcus Aldridge is averaging at home in five playoff games as Gordon has scored almost as many points in one fewer road games. With Aldridge struggling, this makes Gordon a fine play here.
Gordon’s move to the starting lineup should mean more minutes for him and some mismatches could be headed his way. Playing on the floor with Harden more is only going to help the former Indiana product.
So far during this regular and postseason, When Gordon and Harden are on the court together, Gordon is averaging 1.2 points per possession, which is 0.05 more than he averages with Harden off the court.Free NBA Pick: Eric Gordon +½ (-120) Best Line Offered: at BetOnline
Will Clint Capela record a double-double?
Clint Capela didn’t need to play big minutes in Game 4 as the Rockets handed the Spurs another loss in this series. However, with Nene out for the series, Capela will need to come up big on the road in Game 5.
So far in four games against the Spurs in this series, Capela is averaging 13.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. His scoring has been fairly consistent so far in the series and other than a three-rebound performance in Game 2, he is averaging 12.3 rebounds in the other three games.
At +150 to record a double-double, Capela’s odds to get double-digit points and rebounds are solid. Bovada has his total for points and rebounds in Game 5 at 20½ and even better the over is juiced to -125.
That indicates to me that +150 is way too much value for a guy that can easily get double-digit rebounds. He has scored double-digit points in three of his last four games and if he gets 30-plus minutes tonight, I love his NBA odds to record a double-double.
