With nine games on the NBA card tonight, we look through the betting odds on offer and have zoned in on our three best NBA picks of the night on the total.

Utah Jazz vs. Atlanta Hawks
NBA
Odds: Hawks -8
The Hawks have won two straight and should be able to make in three in a row on Wednesday when the Jazz visit. The Jazz have not fared well in Atlanta as they’ve dropped six of their last seven there. They have lost 35 of their last 45 on the road and the main issues is defense as they have allowed 105 points per game over that span.

The bigger concern here is that the Jazz are not a strong defensive team in terms of guarding the three. They’ve allowed opponents to shoot 36.7% from three-point land, which could be a problem against a Hawks team that’s really proficient from that range. Atlanta leads the league with a 40.3% three-point field goal percentage. Look for the Hawks to win this game rather easily and to get over the 100-point mark. The Jazz will have to do their best to keep up and that should push this over the NBA odds total.

Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat
NBA
Odds: Heat -8
The Indiana Pacers have been one of the league’s lowest-scoring teams so far this season, so under looks like a wise play on Wednesday night. Over their last seven games, the Pacers are averaging a paltry 91.5 points per game, which is among the worst in the NBA. They just can’t get much going on the offensive end as David West and George Hill are still out. That’s on top of the loss of Paul George and the free agency departure of Lance Stephenson.

Miami has been decent at the defensive end as they give up 97.9 points per game. That should spell trouble for a shorthanded, ineffective Pacers team. Indiana has gone over this total just once in their last five games, so go under with your NBA picks.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Phoenix Suns
NBA
Odds: Suns -5
We’re facing a very big total in this contest and it might not be a number that the two teams can get over. Neither team is particularly strong defensively while both teams have been excellent at the other end. Both the Nets and Suns rank in the Top 10 for offense. However, the Nets have only gone over this total once in their last five games.

The Suns have been a bad defensive team but are coming off one of their better defensive efforts, forcing a season-best 27 turnovers in a 107-95 win over Golden State on Sunday. Head coach Jeff Hornacek has emphasized defense and wants his team to build on that performance. That should help keep this game under the number even though there’s plenty of firepower on both sides.
