Tennis Picks: Top Plays of the Day For ATP Wimbledon Day 3

Samantha Stosur (14) vs. Sabine Lisicki
Wimbledon is clearly Sabine Lisicki’s favorite tournament, with the German always finding her best tennis in the All England Club. It doesn’t matter if Lisicki is not playing at her best before this event, because everything changes for Sabine in Wimbledon. The German won 78.79% of the matches she played on this event, with her best result achieved in 2013 when she lost in the final against Marion Bartoli. The German started her campaign with a solid triumph, dismissing Shelby Rogers by 6 - 1 6 – 3 in just 59 minutes.

On the other hand, Samantha Stosur is far from an expert on grass, with the Australian clearly struggling to perform at her best on this surface. Looking at Stosur’s prior record in Wimbledon, she only won 11 out of 24 matches and was never able to win a match when priced as underdog. Sam was far from impressive on her first round match against Magda Linette, winning by 7 – 5 6 – 3 and ending the match with 14 winners / 20 unforced errors.

This will be the 8th career meeting between these two players, with Stosur leading on the h2h by 5 – 2.

Despite Stosur’s lead on the h2h, it was Lisicki who won their previous encounter in Wimbledon 2013 by 4 – 6 6 – 2 6 – 1. As we mentioned before, Sabine is a different player on this event and once again, she should be too strong for the Australian. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to add Lisicki to your tennis picks as the best play for this match.

Sara Errani (20) vs. Alize Cornet
The last months haven’t been easy for Sara Errani, with the Italian losing her previous six matches before this event. Sara is one of the biggest competitors on the tour, never giving anything for free to her opponents with tremendous defensive skills; however, her game is far from effective on grass, especially when facing powerful opponents. Despite Errani’s weak results lately, the Italian booked a place in the second round with a 6 – 4 6 – 4 triumph against Patricia Maria Tig.

Alize Cornet is also trying to find her best tennis after some physical issues. The French loves to compete on Grand Slam events and after reaching the third round at the French Open, she’s looking for another good campaign in Wimbledon. Looking at Cornet’s numbers in Wimbledon, the world no.61 won 52.38% of the matches she played while outside the All England Club, Alize only won 16.67% of the matches she played on grass. Cornet started her campaign with a very good victory against Polona Hercog by 6 – 3 6 – 0.

These two players know each other well, with Errani winning four of their five previous meetings.

Despite Errani’s dominance on the h2h, the matches between these two are usually extremely close. The last one took place two years ago in Paris Indoor, with Errani winning only by 7 – 6 3 – 6 7 – 6. Both players have tremendous defensive skills and we should witness some remarkable baseline rallies on this contest. We expect an incredibly close contest and even though Cornet’s favoritism for this match, a third set might be required and with that in mind, our suggestion is for you to place a bet on the Over tennis odds.
