Top Half of the Draw
After finally matching Steffi Graf’s record with 22 Grand Slam titles due to her triumph in Wimbledon, things haven’t been easy for Serena Williams. After suffering a disappointing loss in Rio de Janeiro against Elina Svitolina, Serena decided to withdraw from the Western & Southern Open due to a shoulder injury.

Before the draw was released, our idea was to wait for the first round before placing any bet, in order to ensure if Serena was fully recovered from those issues. After seeing the draw, that idea gained even more strength since Williams is facing an incredibly tough opponent on the first round – Ekaterina Makarova. These two players know each other well with Makarova shocking the world in 2012 after a surprising victory at the Australian Open; however, it was Williams who won all the other four previous encounters between them.

If Serena survives this tough first round, the American shouldn’t experience any major issues until the quarter-finals where she might face Simona Halep. Known for her counter punching skills, Simona is never an easy match-up for Williams yet, we highly doubt that Halep possesses the required mental strength to defeat Serena on a Grand Slam event.

Looking now to the players in the 2nd quarter, Agnieszka Radwanska and Karolina Pliskova are the two main favorites to reach the semifinals. Despite Pliskova’s recent success in Cincinnati, the Czech never reached the 4th round of a Grand Slam event and for that reason, it should be Radwanska the one to face Serena in the semifinals.

Even though Radwanska’s improvements over the years, the Polish can’t find an answer to Serena’s firepower, with the American losing only one set on their 10 previous encounters. Therefore, we should see Serena reaching another final at the US Open yet, our suggestion is for you to only add Serena to your betting picks after the tough first round against Ekaterina Makarova.

Bottom Half of the Draw
After failing to become the new world no.1 in Cincinnati, the 2016 Australian Open champion – Angelique Kerber – has another opportunity to claim that spot in New York.

Looking now to Kerber’s draw on this event, the German seems to have a good opportunity to make it into the US Open semifinals for the second time on her career; however, there are still some dangerous players on her quarter such as Petra Kvitova or Dominika Cibulkova.

Angelique is currently priced at +150 at Bet365 to win the 4th quarter and even though we believe that she’ll make it into the last four, Cibulkova can never be underestimated, with the Slovakian currently priced at +1100 at Coral to reach the semifinals. Having said that, our suggestion is for you to keep an eye on Cibulkova due to her terrific career record on Grand Slam events – 64.76% winning record while her overall winning record is 60.87%.

The 3rd quarter promises to be the most competitive among all, with Garbine Muguruza and Madison Keys as the main favorites to make it into the semifinals. Besides these two, the Olympic Gold Medalist – Monica Puig – is also there, as well as the 2004 US Open champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova.

After breaking into the top 10 for the first time, Madison is going through the best moment on her career and after losing to Serena in the fourth round last year, this is a great opportunity for the American to make it into the semifinals. Therefore, our suggestion is for you to take advantage of her betting odds to win the 3rd quarter at +350 at Bet365.
