Pliskova couldn’t have asked for better debut at the WTA Finals in Singapore. As we predicted in our Day 1 analysis, Pliskova proved too strong for Venus Williams with a 6-2, 6-2 win over the American. Besides not dropping a single set in opening match, the 26-year-old won 87.50% of her service games with an impressive average of 0.63 aces per service game. On the other hand, Karolina only allowed her opponent to win 45.90% of her service points.
The two-time Grand Slam champion Muguruza is trying to become the first Spanish woman to win the WTA Finals. Despite some concerns regarding Garbine’s physical condition, the world No. 2 didn’t experience any problems in her debut in Singapore. Known as a big match player, Muguruza is famous for playing her best tennis on the main stages with an outstanding 85.00% winning record in Grand Slam events in 2017.
These two players know each other very well with Pliskova winning six of their previous eight meetings on the WTA Tour. Despite Pliskova's lead on the h2h, Muguruza emerged victorious from their most recent encounter at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati. Adding to this, the slow court conditions in Singapore should benefit Garbine in this matchup. So to take advantage of the value on the Spaniard’s tennis betting odds by placing a bet on Muguruza to win this match.Free Tennis Pick: Muguruza +104Best Line Offered: Pinnacle
Venus Williams (5) vs. Jelena Ostapenko (7)
Ostapenko continues her quest for a first ever win at the WTA Finals in Singapore. The 20-year-old is the youngest player to qualify for this event since Caroline Wozniacki in 2010 and also the first Latvian to secure a place in the year-ending tournament. The 2017 French Open champion couldn’t find the answer to Muguruza’s aggressive game style in her opening match in Singapore.
At the age of 37, Williams continues to be one of the best players in the world. In addition to her impressive 71.43% winning record this season, Venus reached two Grand Slam finals in 2017. On the other hand, the American is the only player in this year’s edition to have won this tournament in the past. Nevertheless, Williams was far from impressive in the previous match against Pliskova with only 16 winners and 19 unforced errors.
This will be the 2nd career meeting between these two players with Venus leading 1-0 (at Wimbledon). The sportsbooks expect a close encounter with Williams as the slight favorite at -110 at 5Dimes while Pinnacle offers +102 for Ostapenko’s victory. Despite Venus’ shaky performance in the opening match, it’s impossible to ignore the tremendous value on her current betting odds.Free Tennis Pick: Williams -110Best Line Offered: 5Dimes
