After several early losses in recent weeks, Angelique Kerber found her best tennis in Miami, losing only against Victoria Azarenka at the semifinals. This is an important week for Kerber, with the German defending 470 points from last year’s triumph in Charleston. Angelique is the top seed and she shouldn’t experience much problems until the quarterfinals, where she might face another German, Andrea Petkovic. The two know each other well with 10 prior meetings and the edge is clearly on Kerber’s side with 7 victories – the last one achieved in Charleston last year. At the semifinals Kerber might face Sloane Stephens, a very dangerous player who defeated the German in Indian Wells last year. Besides Sloane, the other high ranked player on Kerber’s half is Lucie Safarova, but the Czech is still recovering from injury and trying to find her best tennis. Due to Kerber’s high probability of reaching the semifinals without much problems, we believe there is value on her tennis odds at 5.50 on bet365.
Madison Keys returned to her best level in Miami, losing only at the quarterfinals against Angelique Kerber. Keys is looking for another good run in Charleston, after reaching the final last year. For being one of the eight top seeded players, Madison will only start her campaign on the second round, where she shouldn’t have problems to defeat Laura Siegemund or Patricia Maria Tig. Kristina Mladenovic is the highest ranked player that Keys can face on the third round however, the French is far from her best. The first real test for Keys should occur at the quarterfinals, where Belinda Bencic or Eugenie Bouchard are possible opponents but once again, Keys firepower and good momentum should be too much for either of them. At the semifinals, Venus Williams is the most dangerous player that Madison can play but the last weeks have been terrible for Venus and is quite possible that she doesn’t even make into the semifinals. Due to the bad shape of Keys’ opponents on bottom half of the draw, her chances for reaching another final are very good and for that reason, we suggest adding the American to your tennis picks at 8.00 on bet365.
Player To Keep An Eye On
After a disappointing early loss in Miami against Heather Watson, Sloane Stephens will be looking for a better performance in Charleston. Despite that early loss, it has been a good season for Stephens so far, with two titles in 2016 – Auckland and Acapulco. This is Sloane’s sixth career appearance on Charleston’s main draw, with the American winning only one of the previous five matches she played. Although Stephens’ poor record in Charleston, she had time to prepare this event, in contrast with previous years where she did good runs in Miami. Sloane is on top half of the draw and as we mentioned, she might face Angelique Kerber at the semifinals. Having said that and looking at Sloane’s tennis odds, is clearly possible to find value on the American at 21.00 on bet365. We suggest placing a bet on Stephens’ outright and trade something out in case of a semifinals match against Kerber.
