Once again, Victoria Azarenka covered the spread on her semifinals match against Samantha Crawford. On the bottom half of the draw, Angelique Kerber dismissed Carla Suarez Navarro in two easy sets to reach her first WTA Brisbane final.

Victoria Azarenka vs Angelique Kerber (4)
With another remarkable performance, Victoria Azarenka booked a place into her first final since February 2015 at WTA Doha. Azarenka has been on fire this week, she’s allowing an average of 3.25 games per match to her opponents and her return to serve has been absolutely brilliant. The Belarussian won 77.4% of games on return against players with pretty decent serves like Elena Vesnina, Roberta Vinci or the young surprise Samantha Crawford. This will be Azarenka’s third career final at Brisbane, after winning the trophy at 2009 and losing in the final at 2013 against Serena Williams.

After losing the first set of the competition against Camila Giorgi, Angelique Kerber raised the level of her game. The German is probably the best defender on tour, she’s able to return almost everything and mentally she’s also extremely strong. Adding to this, Kerber counter punching allow her to turn defense into offense very quickly. Despite facing tough players such as Giorgi, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova or Carla Suarez Navarro, Angelique was just too good and solid for them. 2015 was a great year for Kerber, winning 4 out of 5 finals, but this will be a very difficult match for her.

Although Azarenka leads the h2h against Kerber by 5 – 0, the previous matches were extremely close (except their meeting at Doha last season where Azarenka won 6 – 3 6 – 0).

Last season they played one of the best matches of the year at the US Open, where Azarenka emerged victorious by 7 – 5 2 – 6 6 – 4. The Belarussian knows Kerber is a very tough opponent and she predicted a very close match for tomorrow: “We always bring the best out of each other, I hope we can put up a good show”. Azarenka is the favorite for this match and her price is the highest ever in a match against Kerber, however is hard to find value on her tennis odds. Angelique is producing terrific tennis, mixing her defensive skills with remarkable groundstrokes and her stats against Suarez Navarro show that – 25 winners / 19 unforced errors. The Over 21.5 was won in three of her previous five matches and after seeing how well both are playing, we can only expect another close battle. With this in mind, we suggest to add to your tennis picks on this match the value on Over.
