Victoria Azarenka (14) vs Naomi Osaka (q)
With another remarkable performance, Victoria Azarenka defeated Danka Kovinic by 6 – 1 6 – 2. Azarenka was outstanding on serve; ending the match with 92% points won on first serve without facing a single break point. The Belarussian seems unstoppable at the time, destroying her opponents with her baseline consistency and high intensity.

It has been a dream week for Naomi Osaka, with the 18 years old reaching the third round on her first Grand Slam main draw appearance. Naomi is a player to keep an eye in the future; she’s very tall and can generate tremendous power with her groundstrokes. Osaka surprised the 18th seed, Elina Svitolina, in a match where the Japanese saved 9/11 break points and converted all four break point chances.

This is the kind of opponents Azarenka likes to face and the match-up seems very good for the Belarussian. The spread is lower this time at -7.5 (-105) on Pinnacle and we believe she can cover it this time. Azarenka should be too solid from the baseline and we suggest adding her spread to your tennis picks.

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2969160, "sportsbooksIds":[169,1096,93,19,92,238], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Angelique Kerber (7) vs Madison Brengle
After that difficult round where Angelique Kerber needed to save one match point, the German had a much easier match against Alexandra Dulgheru, defeating the Romanian by 6 – 2 6 – 4. Kerber will be looking to reach Australian Open’s 4th round for the third time on her career, but she was never able to go further than that.

Madison Brengle is doing another good run on this event, after reaching the 4th round last year. The American has a very solid backhand, however her forehand is far from reliable. On her last match against Johanna Larsson, 60.0% of her unforced errors were from the forehand side while only 45.45% of winners were achieved with the forehand.

Despite being able to hit some brilliant shots, Brengle has always struggled against this opponent. The spread is at -6.5 (-120) on Pinnacle and this seems a good line for the German. They played three times in the past, with Kerber always covering this line and for that reason we advise to take Kerber spread tennis odds.

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2969219, "sportsbooksIds":[169,1096,93,19,92,238], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Barbora Zahlavova Strycova vs Garbine Muguruza (3)
As we mentioned in our Day 4 Main Spread Betting Analysis, Garbine Muguruza had a tougher match against Kirsten Flipkens, with the Belgian’s backhand slice cutting Garbine’s pace. The Spaniard couldn’t keep the same numbers from the first round clash, ending the match with 23 winners / 29 unforced errors and dropping twice her serve.

Barbora Zahlavova Strycova is for the third time on her career in Australian Open’s third round, but she was never able to reach the next stage of the competition. Barbora had a difficult match against Vania King in the previous round, recovering from 3 – 5 to win the 1st set on a tie break. Zahlavova Strycova is a very smart player on court, mixing things with slices, drop shots and great skills at the net.

They played twice last year, with Garbine winning both matches in straight sets. The Spaniard is once again the main favorite for the victory, but is never easy to face Zahlavova Strycova. We saw that Garbine struggled with Flipkens’ backhand slice, especially with her backhand because she’s a very tall player and is hard to hit those slice shots with a two-handed backhand. The Czech should use her slices to chance the pace of the rallies and this might be a closer match than odds suggest. With this in mind, we suggest to skip Muguruza’s spread at -5.5 (-106) on Pinnacle.

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2969161, "sportsbooksIds":[169,1096,93,19,92,238], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
