Ashleigh Barty (WC) vs. Mona Barthel (q)

As we predicted in our WTA Australian Open Day 3 Analysis, Ashleigh Barty proved to be too strong for Shelby Rogers. Playing in big stadium with a huge strong support from the crowd clearly helped Barty, with the 20 year old presenting a terrific attitude on court. Even though this is only Ash’s first career appearance in the third round of a Grand Slam, she already reached three finals in doubles on major events. Looking now to Barty’s numbers in the previous round, the Australian featured one of her best performances ever with 7 aces, 29 winners and only 11 unforced errors.

The recent years haven’t been easy for Mona Barthel with the German struggling with several physical problems. Barthel is currently outside the top 150, which means that she needed to play the qualifying stage in Melbourne. After winning four matches as favorite, Mona surprised the 29th seed – Monica Puig – with a 6 – 4 6 – 4 victory. Barthel is never an easy opponent to face with some unbelievable shots; however, the German is also famous for her tremendous inconsistency.

Once again, Barty will play in night session on a big stadium – this time is on the Rod Laver Arena. Ash was close to perfection on the previous round and as we mentioned before, it will be very hard for anyone to beat her. The home support clearly benefits Barty and for all these reasons, our suggestion is for you to add the Australian to your betting picks to win this match.

Eugenie Bouchard vs. Coco Vandeweghe

After a disappointing first round loss in Brisbane, Eugenie Bouchard featured a very good week in Sydney – losing only in the semi-finals against Agnieszka Radwanska. Playing in Melbourne brings great memories to Bouchard with the Canadian holding a terrific 13 – 4 record on this event. Genie reaches this stage of the competition after a good victory over the former world no.14 – Shuai Peng. Known for her aggressive game style, Bouchard ended the match against Peng with 22 winners / 20 unforced errors and 70.00% points won at the net.

Coco Vandeweghe is for the second time in the Australian Open 3rd round. Back in 2015, Vandeweghe lost at this stage of the competition against her fellow countrywoman – Madison Brengle. Coco is never an easy opponent to face due to her outstanding serve and as you might remember, she was one of our top plays to win her first round match against Roberta Vinci. After that triumph against the Italian, Vandeweghe defeated Pauline Parmentier by 6 – 4 7 – 6. Despite Coco’s straight sets victory over the French, she was far from consistent with 8 double faults and 44 unforced errors.

This will be the 2nd career meeting between these two players with Bouchard winning their previous encounter two years ago in Indian Wells by 6 – 3 6 – 2.

Bouchard is far from an easy match-up for Vandeweghe with the American struggling against Genie’s terrific counter punching skills. The Canadian is playing at a very good level in the last two weeks and clearly has much more experience than Coco on Grand Slam events. With this in mind, our advice is for you to take advantage of Bouchard’s betting odds by placing a bet on the Canadian’s moneyline.
