The main contenders on bottom half of the draw will try to get one step closer to the final. Find out our WTA Australian Open main favorite spread betting analysis for Day 4 of the competition.

Kirsten Flipkens vs Garbine Muguruza (3)
With an impressive performance, Garbine Muguruza dismissed Anett Kontaveit in straight sets. The Spaniard was outstanding on serve, winning 91% of points with her first serve, not facing a single break point and ending the match with 22 winners / 10 unforced errors. Garbine is known for struggling to keep a consistent level, but this time she was rock solid the whole match.

Kirsten Flipkens booked a place into the Australian Open second round after a great comeback against Mirjana Lucic-Baroni. Mirjana served for the match with 5 – 4 on the third set, however she was just too inconsistent, ending the match with 38 winners / 64 unforced errors. Flipkens is a tricky player, with her backhand slice changing the pace of the rallies, but that shot is not so effective on these slower courts.

Their tied on h2h, with one victory for each player, however Muguruza is currently at a much higher level. Despite Garbine’s monumental performance on the first round, is hard for us to trust in such an inconsistent player to cover the spread at -6.0 (-104) on Pinnacle. We advise to avoid betting on Muguruza spread and if you want to place a bet on this match, the Over seems a better option.

Angelique Kerber (7) vs Alexandra Dulgheru
The two-time Grand Slam semifinalist, Angelique Kerber, was close from elimination on her first match against Misaki Doi. The German saved one match point to emerge victorious by 6 – 7 7 – 6 6 – 3. Kerber is known for her remarkable counter punching skills and defensive game, returning almost every shot. Her opponents need to play extremely aggressive to defeat her and Doi was very close from that, ending the match with 59 winners / 62 unforced errors.

Alexandra Dulgheru reached Australian Open 2nd round for the first time on her career. Dulgheru is a consistent baseline player and she was just too solid for the Australian, Storm Sanders, on the first round. Sanders ended the match with 14 winners / 41 unforced errors while Dulgheru got 10 winners / 19 unforced errors.

The German leads 2 – 0 on h2h, with the last match played at the US Open 2015, where Kerber won by 6 – 3 6 – 1. There isn’t much Dulgheru can do from the baseline, her game style doesn’t bother Kerber and the German should win this quite easily. After a very close match, this should be an easier contest for Angelique and we advise to add her spread at -6.5 (-125) on Pinnacle to your tennis picks.

Victoria Azarenka (14) vs Danka Kovinic
Victoria Azarenka couldn’t ask for a better start, destroying Alison Van Uytvanck by 6 – 0 6 – 0. We mentioned that the spread was quite high, but she covered it with a remarkable performance, ending the match with 10 winners / 7 unforced errors and allowing only 4 winners / 25 unforced errors to the Belgian.

This is Danka Kovinic’s first Australian Open main draw and the player from Montenegro started her campaign with a good victory against Samantha Crawford. Danka’s best results were achieved on clay, where she doesn’t struggle so much with her baseline movement. Kovinic has a strong serve and a good forehand, but is hard for her to keep a high pace due to her weaker movement.

If Azarenka keeps that impressive level, she should once again crush her opponent, however is very hard to find value on such a high handicap like this -8.0 (-118) on Pinnacle. The Belarussian has to be close to perfection to cover it and we’ll suggest to avoid once again due to the lack of value on Victoria's tennis odds.
