The Red Devils are probably the most talented national team in the World and they travel to Russia as 6th favorites to win the biggest trophy in soccer being priced at +1200 with WilliamHill.

They participated in 12 World Cup tournaments since 1930, reaching 6 consecutive WC between 1982 and 2002. They finished 4th in Mexico in 1986 losing the semifinals 0-2 against Argentina and 4 years ago in Brazil they lost in the quarterfinals of the competition 0-1 against the same Argentinian side with the only goal of the match being scored by Juventus’s superstar Higuain.

They were impressive in the European qualification stages, topping Group H, being unbeaten in their 10 fixtures, earning 28 points and being the joint top scorers with 43 goals netted in the process. We can easily name them the dark-horses of the competition as they have a competitive squad all over the pitch with amazing players who are performing in the top European soccer leagues with most of them fighting to win their domestic title but also Champions League or Europa League. They have a good tactical system with former Everton and Swansea coach Roberto Martinez taking charge of the team and replacing Marc Wilmots in 2016. Their only major problem is their defense where coach Martinez needs to act fast and find a solution to have a solid defense which can keep out goals. Belgium were drawn in Group G together with England, Panama and Tunisia with the 2 European sides expected to qualify in the knock-out stages.

Key Players:

One of the most important aspect regarding Belgium is that 90% of the players are together since the change of generations in 2013, playing in both World Cup 2014 and Euro 2016 with decent results. It’s time for them to shine and have a brilliant tournament and why not, to win the trophy.

- Goalkeeper – No brainer choice – Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois is Belgium’s 1st choice as he is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe with great results for his club and amazing numbers playing at the highest level in recent years. With Real Madrid trying to sign him in the summer, Chelsea have offered to make him the best-paid keeper in the World.

- Defender – Tottenham’s defensive duo Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld played together in 95% of the European qualification matches helping their side to concede just 6 goals in the process being very dynamic.

- Midfielder – The genius from the midfield, Kevin De Bruyne has led Manchester City evolution this season being crucial in winning the Premier League title and fighting for the Player of the Season award. The Belgium superstar is a complete player, “a phenomenon” like some of the specialists are calling him, with superb performances in both Champions League and Premier League this season. Since 2012, Kevin De Bruyne has delivered a total of 78 assists, more than any player in Europe’s top 5 soccer leagues.

- Striker – Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku will definitely be Roberto Martinez’s 1st choice in Belgium’s attack. Two more exceptional players with lethal shots from outside the box, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Napoli’s Dries Mertens will help him on the wings. Dortmund’s Michy Batshuayi is the best winter transfer in Europe according to his Belgium coach, making a great impact in Bundesliga by scoring in every match.
