The World Cup qualification process continues on Sunday with several games for us to evaluate and make our betting picks. Some I’ve decided to simply skip for a number of reasons, others I’ve taken a risk on but not without careful consideration.

Cyprus vs. Gibraltar

One of the games I did consider skipping altogether was the Cyprus vs. Gibraltar match. As Gibraltar is still new to the international football scene it’s no surprise that these two have never met before and as such, we have no head to head records to consider. Cyprus have often found themselves as the “spoiler” in the past, the team out to upset the betting odds. It’s not that often they find themselves as the outright favorite for a match and you never know how that kind of switch in mentality is going to play out.

This is one of the riskier bets that I’m placing and because of that, I’m keeping my stake small. I’m expecting Cyprus to cover a handicap of two and a half goals and at 1.85 with Bet365 I think there’s just enough in those odds to make it worthwhile

Hungary vs Andorra

I’m making the same bet on Hungary (Asian Handicap -2.5) in their game against Andorra but at much shorter odds. Bet365 are only offering 1.48 on this one but I think there is still some money in that one, despite the low odds.

Switzerland vs Faroe Islands

I’m staying with the Asian Handicap markets for the Switzerland vs. Faroe Islands but in this one, I’m backing the underdogs (kind of). I’m going for Faroe Islands +2.5 in this one, partly because I think Faroe Islands can keep the game relatively close and partly because I don’t think Switzerland are big goalscorers. This one’s very much a judgment call but at 1.98 (again bet365) I’m willing to take the risk.

Guinea vs DR Congo

Stepping away from Europe for a minute, we find the Guinea v D.R. Congo game. Guinea is just about favorites in this one and I’m with them. You can find them at 2.82 with Pinnacle which is above the market average. There haven’t been many games between these two but any that have taken place have been tight affairs so home advantage may just give Guinea the edge.

Portugal vs Latvia

One game to keep an eye is the Portugal v Latvia match. I got on this earlier with Both Teams To Score – No at 1.44 with Betvictor. That line has come in but there is a chance it could move back out as we approach kick-off. If it gets backs to 1.44 then I’d advise backing it. The odds are low but I don’t see Portugal conceding in this one so it would just about be worth it. Don’t accept anything too low though.

Greece vs Bosnia Herzegovina

My final bet is on the Greece v Bosnia & Herzegovina game. Bosnia & Herzegovina have started to put in better performances in this fixture of late but overall Greece has the better record and with home advantage, I’m backing them to do the business once again. Pinnacle are offering 2.82 on this one, which is again ahead of the market average so well worth taking for you betting pick.
