World Cup Fever is in high gear for those whose countries are still vying for soccer supremacy, so let’s take a look at a few upcoming matches and see if we can cash in our futbol picks.

Belgium vs. Argentina
Okay so let’s get down to cases: That World Cup fever that swept the Estados Unidos has officially broken, and now all Americans can stand as one nation and declare that once again…soccer sucks. Bring on the NFL baby!

Alright, settle down soccer mavens, I know that doesn’t go over very well with all of you, because after all, to the rest of the world, soccer or futbol is indeed the Beautiful Game. So let’s take a look at the matches going forward, and particularly the Belgium/Argentina matchup which has captivated not only fans of both nations, but the soccer world at-large.

Currently the odds at are being dealt as follows: Argentina +115; Belgium +250; Draw +240

Now I’m looking at this, and thinking is Argentina really that much better? Obviously the draw looms large in regulation, but let’s assume this is an absolute blowout, where one team actually scores in the first 90 minutes, is it then so improbable that this skilled, well balanced Belgium team could defeat the Argentineans?

Aside from superstar Lionel Messi, has Argentina been so completely dominant that you can't possibly see another outcome besides La Albiceleste winning yet again? They beat Bosnia 2-1, Iran 1-0, and Nigeria 3-2, and then bumped out the Swiss 1-0 in their last game. Now I realize winning by a mere goal is par for the course in this illustrious game, but did the Argentineans inspire that much confidence in their win over Switzerland that Belgium simply can’t be touched at World Cup odds of +250?

I think not, and let's not forget that if it weren't for the heroics of United States goalie, Tim Howard, Belgium would have won that game by at least 5-1, and perhaps the odds would have plummeted on Belgium. Right now I can get a team that's clicking on all cylinders to win in regulation at +250, and that sounds about as tasty as Belgian chocolate right now.

Free World Cup Pick: Belgium +250 over Argentina in regulation and +1200 at to win it all.

Netherlands vs. Costa Rica
I have unabashedly adopted Costa Rica as my team moving forward in the World Cup. All my friends at SBR are going icky-balookey for Los Ticos who suddenly find themselves in the quarterfinals against the Netherlands. Right now the little engine that could is +700 at to win in regulation, while the Netherlands is -200. A draw will return +333, and if Costa Rica can push this one into extra time or a shootout, then anything can happen.

Unfortunately, the boys from Holland can do one thing that many of these teams cannot, and that is... score.

They blew out Spain 5-1, then beat the Aussies 3-2 and subsequently went on to dominate Chile  2-0 and in the Round of 16 beat Mexico 2-1. Costa Rica on the other hand has been doing it with defense and have won by scores of 3-1 over Uruguay, 1-0 over Italy, 0-0 draw against England and finally scored a shootout victory over Greece where they were installed at +150 to win outright.

While I would love to see Costa Rica move on, I believe the Netherlands is simply too strong offensively to be contained. Perhaps I can bet with my heart just a little bit, and send in a few bucks on a draw at +333 soccer odds, and hope for the best after that. With a little luck and a lot of effort, Costa Rica could shock the world, and advance in to the semi-finals - but don't count on it.
