The opening day of the knockout stages didn't disappoint, with Brazil and Colombia booking their spots into the quarter-finals. We have two more matches on the schedule today and feel like we have a good handle on where the value is.

Netherlands vs. Mexico
What a ride it's been for Netherlands and Mexico already. Now they'll have to battle each other for a coveted spot in the last eight.

If we check out the available soccer betting odds, we see the Dutch favored at +115 or so, with the Mexicans listed at +300. For those wanting to play it safe and back Netherlands to advance at whatever cost, you can find that price at roughly -200.

After a dominant showing in the group stages, the Dutch have quickly become a team to watch in the eyes of many. They've exceeded expectations and have to be feeling mighty confident about their chances of making a run.

As for Mexico, they survived a tough group by going unbeaten in matches against Cameroon (1-0), Brazil (0-0) and Croatia (3-1). As you can see, Miguel Herrera's team has done a fantastic job defensively throughout the tournament and will hope they can do similar things against Robin Van Persie, Arjen Robben and the rest.

We can't shake the feeling that Mexico will indeed make life extremely difficult on Netherlands. They're going to have the crowd behind them and their tenacity all over the pitch (much of which is derived from their manager) should serve them well in this Round of 16 affair.

At the end of the day, we believe the Mexicans offer up the best amount of value, that is if we take them to be tied (at the very least) after 90 minutes. They've seen the damage Netherlands can do on the quick counters, and will try to neutralize that threat.

Since we know Herrera's team isn't going to go down without a fight (and that's putting it lightly), we're backing Mexico with our sports picks today.

Costa Rica vs. Greece
How many of you called this Round of 16 matchup? No one would have foreseen Costa Rica and Greece in this situation, but that's why the World Cup is such a special tournament.

The soccer odds board reveals the giant-killing Costa Ricans favored, but not by much at all. They're quoted at +170, with the Greeks right there at +200.

Group D didn't exactly pan out the way many thought it would. The public expected Italy, England and Uruguay to fight it out for the two top spots and there was little hope for Costa Rica. Jorge Luis Pinto's team had other ideas though, going unbeaten in one of the toughest groups to finish at the top.

Following wins over Uruguay (3-1) and Italy (1-0) and a draw against England (0-0), the Costa Ricans should be more than prepared for whatever Greece will throw at them. In terms of team news, there are unlikely to be any changes to the team that faced Italy.

The same can't be said for the Greeks, who beat Ivory Coast, tied Japan and lost to Colombia in Group C. Panagiotis Kone is out through injury, while it remains to be seen if captain Kostas Katsouranis will be recalled after sitting out due to suspension. Goalkeeper Orestis Karzenis figures to return to the starting XI.

We figure Greece will try to slow this game down and stop Costa Rica from initializing their attacking flair, but how long can they hold on?

For our soccer picks, we've decided to look towards a total play. The 'over' (1.5) is available at a very cheap price and we'd be surprised if the two teams didn't combine to put at least two goals in the back of the net. In thinking Costa Rica will find their groove eventually, we're on the 'over.'

Free World Cup Pick: Over 1.5 goals (-155)
