Given the respective home and away form and offence and defence stats, you simply have to place your soccer picks on Wolfsburg’s side here.

I was talking to the host of William Hill’s European Football podcast this week, Alex Dunn, and he shocked me by saying he thinks Wolfsburg can actually win the Bundesliga this season. I can’t see that, but I agree with his confidence in them this season and they are definitely a bet to finish top of the ‘without Bayern markets’.

Wolfsburg
A cup game was an easy opener for away at Bundesliga 3 Stuttgarter Kickers. They won 4-1 and I think goals will be their calling card again this season, especially at home.

Wolfsburg ended last season with a four-match unbeaten run to finish as runners-up in the Bundesliga – a full 10 points behind the champions. That run included wins over Paderborn and Borussia Dortmund along with draws against Hannover and Koln.

The home form was the key to their success in 2014/15, never tasting defeat at the Volkswagen Arena all season in the league, with a superb home record of 13 wins and four draws, scoring 38 and conceding just 13 in their 17 matches.

The addition of Max Kruse has already started paying off with a goal and two assists in the cup win. Whether he does that in the Bundesliga or not is another matter. He delivered 11 goals in 32 league games last season with nine assists.

Eintracht Frankfurt
If you’re in any doubt why Wolfsburg are such heavy favourites here, well Eintracht Frankfurt only managed two away wins all season in the Bundesliga. It’s quite a surprise they were as high as ninth with 10 defeats on the road and only 20 goals scored and 36 conceded.

It’s worse than it looks too, because since their last away win at BMG, they have picked up just three more points, losing eight of the 11, scoring 10 and conceding 26. Add to that the departure of keeper Kevin Trapp to PSG for £8m and they could be worse off this time.

Soccer Picks
Given the respective home and away form and offence and defence stats, you simply have to be on Wolfsburg’s side here. 1.5 (1/2) isn’t my kind of price on the Bundesliga betting board, but if you like to put accumulators together they have to be included at that price.

We’re talking about a single bet here though, so I’ll go for the home win with a two goal margin at 2.1 (11/10) soccer odds as our free soccer pick.

Soccer Picks: Wolfsburg -1 goal 2.1 (11/10) William Hill

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2874784, "sportsbooksIds":[43], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
