Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray are ready to fight for the US Open trophy for the 1st time all together since 2015.

The last Grand Slam tournament of the season is just around the corner. Just a few weeks after the conclusion of Wimbledon 2018 we are trying to figure out what’s the best play for the U.S. Open on both women's and men's side. Can Novak Djokovic continue is super run of form and win his second Grand Slam of the year? Will Serena Williams return to her best form after her long break from tennis?

This year’s U.S. Open takes place in New York per usual from August 27-September 9 with the USTA announcing a 10% increase in the total prize money pool. The 2 singles champions will earn $3.7 million each with the runner-up being rewarded with $1.8 million.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

#WaybackWednesday:

Turn back the ⏰ 15 years to witness a 17 year old @RafaelNadal in action during his maiden appearance in Flushing Meadows...

🎥: 2003 #USOpen pic.twitter.com/Qc2hwJutP5
— US Open Tennis (@usopen) July 18, 2018
\n\n"}[/]

ATP: The “Old” Djokovic is Back

Djokovic +275/ Federer +350/ Nadal +450/ Zverev +800/ Murray +800/ Del Potro +1200/ Kyrgios +1600/ Cilic +2000/ Thiem +2000/ Wawrinka +2000/ Raonic +2500 – all odds with Bet365

Last year, Djokovic withdrew from the U.S. Open with an elbow injury, but this year he returns to Flushing Meadows looking to stamp his mark on the hard-court major and win his 3rd Grand Slam on American soil. One of the most successful players in tennis history will have to face the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray. Djokovic won his 4th Wimbledon trophy after beating Kevin Anderson in the final, and he is eager and determined to win his 14th overall major title in New York. The most important moment for him was beating his rival Nadal in the Wimbledon semifinals, which proved him that he is back at his highest level after being 6 months away from tennis.

Murray also pulled out of the U.S. Open last year with a hip injury and has played 3 matches since July 2017. He chose not to perform at Wimbledon but he is on track to play at the U.S. Open focusing on his fitness and hard-court gameplay and as he continues his recovery from the surgery. We expect an intense battle between Djokovic, Federer and Nadal. As a dark horse, Marin Cilic might be the perfect option.

WTA: Serena Williams Back in action

Williams +350/ Kerber +800/ Halep +1000/ Muguruza +1000/ Stephens +1000/ Keys +1000/ Muguruza +1000/ Wozniacki +1200/ Svitolina +1200/ Pliskova +1200/ Kvitova +1400/ Sharapova +1600 at Bet365

Wimbledon was one of the most unexpected Grand Slams in tennis history as the top players continued to fall in every round being the 1st time in the open era all the top 10 WTA players had lost before the quarter finals. We don’t expect the same upsets in the US Open. After a superb Wimbledon performance in which she lost in the final to Angelique Kerber, Serena Williams climbed 153 spots in the WTA rankings, being ranked 28th in the world. Will she get to 24 Grand Slams this season by winning on home soil? Serena was not truly tested before the Wimbledon final, having a lucky draw and taking advantage of the upsets from her part of the draw. If she will face 2-3 top players before the U.S. Open quarterfinals, we don’t expect her to have a deep run in the tournament.

Former No. 1 Victoria Azarenka is not among the favorites as she is outside of an automatic place in the main draw being ranked 108, meaning that she might need to play qualifiers. Last year, Sloane Stephens destroyed Madison Keys in an all-American final to win her 1st Grand Slam. It’s tough to predict a winner on the women's side, but if we take out Williams and we make 7 bets we are still in profit as we don’t expect huge upsets.
