Jordan’s WNBA Picks 24-29-1
Atlanta Dream at Indiana Fever
Both the Fever and Dream probably envisioned much better first halves of the season back in April before the season started, but both teams have had their respective struggles.
Atlanta opened the year 3-9 and they lost five straight heading into the All-Star Break. The Fever opened the season well and looked like they were going to flirt with a playoff spot, but they too have hit a rough patch, losing six in a row, 10 of their last 11, and 14 of their last 17 games.
Now after a week off, these two teams are in win-at-all-costs mode and that could show early in this contest on Wednesday.
I’d love to lay the points with the Fever, because I do think they are the better team, but these ATS odds are pretty sharp right now, so I’m laying off and looking at the totals for more value.
Specifically, I want to look at the first half and first-quarter totals. After a flurry of money hit the over on the opening total, things have settled down a lot and the first half and quarter lines are 38 and 76.
Both of these teams play at slower paces and that’s especially true early in games. However, slowing things down has not been helping either team’s first-half offenses. The Fever average just 92.3 first-half points per 100 possessions, while the Dream are at 86.4.
On top of that, both are scoring about 90 points per 100 possessions in the first quarter, while the Fever are allowing just 88.7 points per 100 possessions to their opponents in the first quarter.
Combine that with a week off to rest and these two defensive-minded teams will be in max effort mode on Wednesday. I see that limiting the scoring some earlier in the game.
My Pick: UNDER 1Q and 1H
Best Lines Offered: Bovada
