Copa America 2015 serves up several standout matches on the day's soccer betting card. We cast our eye over Mexico vs. Ecuador in group A action and serve up our soccer picks.

Mexico Notionally Favored
Mexico are undefeated after two rounds of Copa America action but without a win either. It's worth noting that the Mexicans sent a second-tier team to Chile, with their best players such as Carlos Vela and Javier Hernandez resting up for next month's Gold Cup in the United States.

Consider it's the B-team representing Mexico at these competitions, an undefeated run is not so bad. They opened their Group A bid with a scoreless draw to Bolivia that left much to be desired. Then followed up with a 3-3 draw to hosts Chile, which was an entertaining match by all accounts. That said Mexico twice led in the match only to frit away the lead and settle on a point for their efforts.

As it is, Mexico are in third place in group A with just two points, two points adrift of joint group leaders Chile and Bolivia and two points ahead of pointless Ecuador. If Mexico are to advance their bid at the Copa America, they'll need to get a "W" into the column, all three points. Fortunately, they have a winnable match before them with Ecuador striking a poor figure in Group A. But odds makers aren't entirely giving it to Mexico, sending them into this clash as the favorites, albeit on the long side of even money at +155 soccer odds. The draw (dreaded shiver) is trading at +250 soccer odds at Bet365.

Ecuador At Slight Disadvantage
Ecuador have been outclassed, outplayed and outmuscled in this competition. Through two rounds they have nothing to show for their appearance in this competition and with the last round of Group A action set to get underway, they're all but on their way out.

Ecuador had the tough task of opening against Chile. It's never easy to take on the host of any competition as they are expectedly pumped and raring to go, eager to give home fans something to cheer about. So they did, running away 2-0 winners on the night.

In the second match of group play they took on Bolivia, all while both sides were looking for their first win of the competition. Ecuador put in a valiant effort but eventually the Bolivians withstood the onslaught to clinch the 3-2 win.  As it is, Ecuador go into round 2 of group A betting as the decisive underdogs at +188

Soccer Betting Verdict
It's all or nothing for Mexico. It's time to put up or shut up if they are to stand a chance in this competition and get the best sort of preparation for Gold Cup as well. Neither side has impressed in a big way, although both played much better in the second round of group action and showed their attacking flair. Ecuador are in a pickle. Their best shot is to beat Mexico and hope to advance as the best third-placed team. Mexico's fortunes look a bit more promising if they win. If Mexico can rise to the occasion as they did against the hosts in round 2, they should be in good stead. We agree with the odds makers, Mexico are the deserved favorites to win outright. As well, we really like their soccer odds of +155, which serve up great value in the face of their reasonable shot.
