Academy Awards will be beamed live into your living room on February 22 and here we cap the best choice to take home the Oscar for this year’s Best Animated Feature Film.

Best Animated Feature Film

How to Train Your Dragon 2 (-350)

Big Hero 6 (+250)

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (+1400)

Song of the Sea (+1400)

The Boxtrolls (+2200)

How to Train Your Dragon 2 is the Academy Awards odds-on favorite for a reason.  Its biggest rival in this category was not even nominated. Yes, The Lego Movie was snubbed by the Awards’ committee even though it was rumored to be the frontrunner in this category after rave reviews and critical acclaim.  Last month at the Golden Globes, How to train Your Dragon 2 edged The Lego Movie to capture the Globie for Best Animated Feature.  It should be noted that Song of the Sea and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya were not nominated by the Golden Globe committee which should take a bit of steam out of their Oscar engine.

Big Hero 6 is possibly the only challenger in what appears to be a two-horse race for Best Animated Feature Film at this year’s Oscars. However BH 6 failed to capture any of the other major industrial awards in this category and should be out of gas on February 22nd.

Conversely, How to Train Your Dragon 2 also cleaned house at the Annie Awards with six statues including Best Animation Feature and Best Director.  This dragon is on a roll and though the Oscar betting odds of -350 are tough to stomach it beats the hell out of ripping up a ticket because – repeat after me – there is no value in losing.
