These two teams need some form to finish the season with, but who will find it first. Read this article from William Hill's Lee Phelps to find out his free betting pick from the odds.

Summer is approaching and this game may well be played in flip flops, both sides seem to have downed tools and are wishing the season was over. The problem for Newcastle is, they are not mathematically safe from relegation yet and the 150/1 on offer last week is now 80/1. So, who is the most motivated and can we find on the soccer odds board some value bets?

Newcastle United
The omens are good for the Geordies. They have lost just one of their last eight Premier League home games against Spurs (W5 D2 L1), but this defeat came last season. Their current form is poor though and they could match their worst ever run with a loss here. They have lost their last five games.

The Toon caretaker boss Jon Carver looks lost at times and after his rallying call following the defeat to Sunderland, the first half against Liverpool wasn’t much better. They were unlucky not to get a penalty at Anfield and that may have changed the game. In his pre-match press conference Carver defended his team and his reign saying that despite only 2 wins in 14 matches he is enjoying the job, even though seem people might find that a little strange. “I wanted to win every game. It’s something that I have enjoyed and that I am enjoying. You might think I am a little strange by saying that but the hardest thing is trying to pick yourself up after a defeat.”

“I take it personally but I am a professional and I have to get on with it, I know I can do the job, I just need the tools. “I think I’m getting the best out of the group of people we have got.” –

On the team news front, Newcastle will be delighted to have Fabricio Coloccini available again after suspension, but they are without Moussa Sissoko who was sent off at Anfield. The Magpies still have 9 players absent for this match, including Pappis Cisse who is still banned.

Tottenham
Since defeating Arsenal in February, Tottenham have won just three of their eight Premier League matches (W3 D2 L3). The goals have dried up too, it’s now 202 minutes without a goal away from home and that has coincided with a mini lean spell for joint top scorer Harry Kane. He hasn’t gone three league games without scoring since December.

Jan Vertonghen is likely to return for this game and that will be a pick plus for them, while first choice goal keeper Hugo Lloris is close to a return, but this game may have come a little soon for him.

I can’t help but think the lure of Europa League football isn’t enough to motivate Spurs and although Newcastle are poor at the moment, Spurs will have to do something to actually beat them.

Soccer pick
The planned boycott of St James’ Park by some of the Newcastle fans could make for a poor atmosphere for this game, but I think things that look galvanise the team to a certain degree and I can see an improved performance from Newcastle, especially with Coloccini back. I’m going for a plain old draw here and for anyone who wants a bigger price, the draw and under 2.5 goals to your soccer picks.
