USFL Best Bets for Week 10: Matchups, Odds, Picks, and Predictions

The final week of the regular season caps off a successful run for the United States Football League. Here are our Week 10 USFL Best Bets.
Nothing but pride is on the line as we enter the final week of the USFL regular season. Every playoff spot is accounted for as of last week, so we're in for one of the most unpredictable weeks since Week 1.
There are sure to be starters getting rest heading into the postseason. There will also be plenty of players not heading to Canton trying to take advantage of their last chance to put something on tape for the NFL to see.
All of this makes it difficult to handicap Week 10, but there are some situations we can use to our advantage to get ahead of the books.
Here are our best bets for the USFL Week 10 slate (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

USFL Week 10 Top Picks
Moneyline: Generals (-135)
The Generals enter the final week of the regular season as winners of their last eight games. They have done so by using an effective two-quarterback approach on offense while boasting one of the top-rated defenses against the run.
At 6-3, the Stars punched their ticket to the postseason despite a poor outing last week against the Maulers. In that game, starting quarterback Case Cookus took several punishing hits, leading to the decision to let backup K.J. Costello finish the game.
It’s highly likely Costello will see major playing time this week. Head coach Bart Andrus does not have the same two-quarterback system and needs his starter healthy for the playoffs. Costello completed only four of 10 attempts for 69 yards in the second half against the Maulers.
Spread: Stallions -3.5 (-110)
Last week, the Stallions were handed their first loss of the season. That game didn't mean much in the way of the Stallions' playoff positioning, but it still didn't sit well with the team. In defeat, quarterback J’Mar Smith still managed to throw for 260 yards and a touchdown against the Gamblers.
The Bandits had their playoff hopes shattered last week against the Breakers. Their offense managed only six points against the Breakers, with the New Orleans defense forcing four turnovers. Tampa Bay will struggle again this week against a Houston defense tuning up for a championship run.
Total: Panthers-Maulers Under 42 (-110)
Whatever the problem is with the Maulers' offense, head coach Kirby Wilson isn't the answer. Last week, the Maulers totaled just 266 yards of total offense and 16 points. In fact, they're averaging only 16.5 points per game over their last four games. Wilson continues to play quarterback roulette between Vad Lee and Roland Rivers. Neither can consistently lead their team to points.
The Panthers enter this week averaging just under 20 points a game on the season. They've scored more than 25 points only once all season.
Adding up the 24 points scored by Michigan and the 16 points from Pittsburgh last week leaves you short of this mark. The first time these two teams met, the Panthers shut out the Maulers 24-0.
Upset: Gamblers (+160)
The Gamblers are riding the high off their biggest win of the season last week, breaking Birmingham’s bid at an undefeated season. Houston held the Stallions to just 15 points despite allowing 329 offensive yards. They will be dangerous this week with nothing to lose and no reason to rest anyone.
The Breakers will likely rest quarterback Kyle Sloter now that they're locked into the playoffs. That could open the door for Shea Patterson to make his first start with New Orleans since he was acquired from the Panthers. Patterson appeared in six games this season throwing for 973 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions.
