Tournament faves USA are set to take on Cuba in the knockout stages of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup on Saturday. We preview this much anticipated match up & serve up our soccer betting verdict.

USA Odds On Faves
USA go into the knockout stages of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup as the nation to beat at -120 soccer odds. The nearest threat to their title bid is Mexico, trading at +175 on the bet365 odds board. Indeed, the Stars and Stripes have the competition cornered in their camp. All they need to do is to win three straight matches from here on to claim the prize.

Jurgen Klinsman's lads won Group A but they didn't exactly breeze through the rounds. They went 2-1-0 in three matches for a total of 7 points, all while scoring just four goals and conceding two goals.

USA opened with a 2-1 win over Honduras and then followed up with a 1-0 win over Haiti. In game 3, they faced stiff opposition from Panama and were forced to come from a goal down to settle on a 1-1 draw and claim the point.

In any event, USA fall into an advantageous side of the bracket with all three main threats to their title aspirations sat on the opposite side, left to battle it out amongst themselves: Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama. As it is, USA take on improbable Cuba in the quarterfinals and then they'll face the winner of Jamaica vs. Haiti in the semis. If the CONCACAF Gold Cup Odds board were any indication, Mexico is  the likeliest to emerge in the finals, but few would be surprised if Costa Rica or Panama were to shake things up.

Cuba Decided Underdogs
First up in the knockouts is Cuba, who finished third in Group C with a 1-0-2 mark and three points. Cuba's start to the competition was brutal to say the least as they succumbed to a 6-0 loss to Mexico on match day 1 in their section. Then they were dealt a 2-0 loss by the thrilling Trinidad & Tobago side. But credit to the Cubans for keeping their peckers up and gaining a result in their third and last match of Group C, beating Guatemala 1-0 to clinch third place and advancement into the knockouts.

Consider Cuba's less than convincing run, they are the quintessential long shots in the competition matched at +75000 to win it all. As far as the quarterfinal match with hosts USA is concerned, they are the absurd +2500 soccer pick to win outright. Heck, even the draw is trading at +850. All in all, it's hard to see how the Cubans survive the quarterfinals at the expense of the highly fancied Americans, trading at whopping -1200 soccer odds at bet365 to win outright.

Soccer Betting Verdict
It's no secret that Jurgen Klinsman isn't completely satisfied by his boys' account in the group stage; he's made changes to the team which include the eviction of Jozy Altidore, who's been subpar in the tournament and is coming off a hamstring injury. It's also obvious that the Americans didn't have it all go their way in the group stage, having to battle some stiff opponents and eke out narrow wins. That all could stand them in good stead though as they prepare to take their campaign into the knockouts and complete a successful title defence campaign. As it is, Cuba barely strike an intimidating pose on paper and they Americans should roll over them convincingly.

For our choice soccer picks, we're looking at USA to win both halves trading at -400 at bet365 or William Hill as one alternative to outright match betting odds. Frankly, unless you have silly money betting on USA at -1200 is a waste of your hard earned cash.

Another choice bet is in total betting markets, where the Over 2.5 at -350 looks appealing, especially given that the Cubans conceded eight goals to Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago combined.

William Hill is offering match handicaps that promise good angles for profit on your soccer picks. USA -2 goals at -188 or USA at -3 goals at +138 practically leap of the page as the best options.

Soccer Picks: USA -3 at +138
