Stan Wawrinka (23) vs Daniil Medvedev (5)
Daniil Medvedev extended his winning streak on the ATP Tour to 10 matches on Sunday after a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(2) win over German qualifier Dominik Koepfer in two hours and 32 minutes. The world No.5 has enjoyed tremendous success this summer in North America, winning his maiden Masters 1000 title at the Western & Southern Open. Medvedev also reached two other finals – Washington and Toronto – and leads the ATP Tour in hard court wins since the start of the season with an impressive 34-8 record on this surface.
Medvedev will next face No.23 seed Stan Wawrinka on Tuesday at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The three-time Grand Slam champion advanced to the US Open quarterfinals after Novak Djokovic retired from their fourth round match due to a shoulder injury. Wawrinka loves to play on the big stage and is always an extremely hard player to beat at majors. The Swiss has an outstanding 72.25% winning record throughout her career at Grand Slam events and made it to the semifinals in five of his last six appearances at this stage.
This will be the second meeting between these two players with Medvedev emerging victorious in their previous encounter at the All England Club in 2017.
The sportsbooks are expecting a very close contest with Wawrinka as the slight favorite at -125 with 5Dimes while Bookmaker offers +110 for Medvedev to win this match. This should be a very close match between two players in excellent form. It’s hard to see any of them winning this contest in straight sets, which makes the Over 38.5 games the best line to add to our parlay.
Serena Williams (8) vs Qiang Wang (18)
Serena Williams suffered an injury scare during her fourth round victory over Petra Martic on Sunday. The six-time US Open champion rolled her right ankle at 2-2 in the second set and required a medical timeout to have her ankle heavily taped. Serena has struggled with some physical problems in recent years and admitted that the situation affected her mentally. Nevertheless, Williams got the job done in straight sets to continue her bid for a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam title.
Serena will next take on Qiang Wang, who claimed the biggest win of her career on Sunday over Ashleigh Barty to reach her maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal. Despite Ashleigh’s undeniable quality, the French Open champion couldn’t find her rhythm from the baseline. Barty failed to convert any of her nine break points and ended the match with 39 winners to just 14 from her opponent.
As usually happens, Serena is the heavy favorite to win at -468 with BetOnline. The American is the only Grand Slam champion left on the women’s draw and the main contender to lift the trophy. However, Wang is a very tough opponent on this surface and should create some problems to Serena. With this in mind, we’ll take advantage of the value on Qiang’s tennis betting odds and add her spread to our parlay.
