Stay with us to find out our two top tennis picks for the US Open betting - Day 4 where the bottom half of the draw plays the second round matches.

For this Thurdsday we have selected one favorite from each competition to cover their spread in the last day of Round 2 at the US Open

Mikhail Youzhny vs. John Isner
American no. 1 John Isner started with a very solid win over Malek Jaziri 6 – 2 6 – 3 6 – 4 firing 24 aces, 61% first serve in and winning 98% of points with first serve. John has been in very good shape in the US Open series with an average of 1.50 aces per match and 93.5% of service hold. Isner loves to play in USA where he clearly raises his level and the last time he lost before third round on this event was in 2008 when he was still improving and outside top 100.

Mikhail Youhny is having a terrible season but lately he managed to win some matches in Montreal and this week defeated the qualifier John-Patrick Smith 6 – 1 3 – 6 7 – 5 7 – 6. Mikhail made his best Grand Slam results in US Open reaching twice semi-finals, however his level is far from his best and has been a massive struggle for him to get victories this season.

Youzhny won the two meetings they played, the previous was also at US Open in 2010 and John will be looking for revenge. Isner knows one of the keys for him to do well on US Open is to win this first rounds in straight sets in order to be fresher in later stages and has a good opportunity here for that. Mikhail has been just too inconsistent and Isner should take advantage of that to get crucial breaks or also decisive mini-breaks on tie break to claim this match in straight sets.

Tennis Pick: John Isner -2.5 Set Handicap at +134

Garbine Muguruza vs. Johanna Konta
Garbine Muguruza is one of our tennis picks to go further on this event and after a poor preparation for this tournament she showed that she was made for Grand Slams with a massive improvement on her level defeating Carina Witthoeft 6 – 2 6 – 4. Garbine serve was superb with 86% first serve points won and firing 11 aces, she played very aggressive as always with 39 winners and 31 unforced errors.

Johanna Konta is playing her best career tennis and she reaches this match after winning 14 straight matches, after Wimbledon she won two ITF tournaments and came from qualifying defeating then Louisa Chirico in the first round 6 – 3 6 – 0. Konta has very good skills with her forehand being clearly her best shot, but her game level is very inconsistent and against more powerful players she feels some problems for not having so many time to prepare her groundstrokes.

They played twice, the last one was this year in Eastbourne where Konta defeated Muguruza in three sets, however that was one of Wimbledon preparation tournaments where Garbine was very erratic like it happened in the preparation for this tournament. The Spanish is a completely different player on majors, she recently reached Wimbledon final while Konta only got her second career win on Grand Slam main draws.

Garbine serve and powerful game will cause many problems on Konta, the British won’t have the time she likes to prepare her forehand and with Muguruza serving at such high level is very hard to find a way to stop her.

Tennis Pick: Garbine Muguruza -4.0 at -109
