Manchester City close the first round of EPL betting action when they descend on West Bromwich Albion on Monday. Find out what odds are currently trading & where the value soccer picks are to be had.

West Bromwich Albion Home Underdogs
Tony Pulis begins his first full season (one hopes) with the Baggies, but he couldn’t have received a tougher challenge than Manchester City to begin the 2015-2016 campaign. Hence, the soccer odds are severely stacked against West Bromwich Albion on the Premier League odds board on match day 1.

West Brom are trading at whopping +425 soccer odds to win outright, while the draw is on offers of +300. On the flipside, Manchester City, one of the overarching favorites on the season, are heading into the Hawthorns as the clear-cut favorites.

The Baggies were dangerously flirting with relegation until Tony Pulis’ arrival. The no-nonsense manager did what he does best: rescue hapless clubs from imminent relegation. Tale told, West Brom finished 13th in the table with an 11-11-16 mark and 44 points, nine points clear of the drop zone.

He’s built quite a resume with the likes of Crystal Palace and Stoke owing their turnaround in fortunes to him. But this is the first time in a couple of years that he’s in a position to start the season with a club, potentially see it through.

Manchester City Road Faves
Manchester City finished the season without a trophy across all competitions; they failed to defend their title, finishing second behind Chelsea and they suffered another customary early exit from Champions League, amongst other things. To say the pressure is on Manuel Pelligirini is the understatement of the season. Undoubtedly, he’s an excellent manager. Top quality guy. But expectations run high at the Etihad and both the club owners and fans aren’t satisfied with just a couple of league titles; it’s not enough to paint England’s top flight Sky Blue. They want all of it, Europe included, covered in Sky Blue.

Manchester City finished 24-7-7 last season with 79 points, eight points behind Chelsea and just four points ahead of Arsenal. At home they went 14-3-2 and on the road 10-4-5. Where they didn’t disappoint was in goals scored with a league-leading 83 goals (to just 38 conceded, which was fifth fewest in the league).

In the offseason, they Citizens picked up Rahim Sterling from Liverpool, Fabian Delph from Aston Villa and Patrick Roberts from Fulham. On the other side of the coin, they lost James Milner to Liverpool.

Soccer Betting Verdict
There are those soccer bettors that wouldn’t have Manchester City as the massive favorites at -163 to win outright, despite their undeniable quality and talent. Only that last season Burnley, Stoke and West Ham United were just some of the teams to get one over the Citizens, which raises a lot of questions about Manuel Pellegrini’s side ahead of 2015-2016 as well suggests that the Citizens are beatable, more so than the soccer odds would suggest.

Of course, West Brom also factors on its own merit. Tony Pulis is a master escapologist and a solid coach and tactician. He’ll have his Baggies ready for the Citizens on Monday and you can bet he’ll be looking to win this game and not just compete. Man City may have flash players, but West Brom’s journeymen inspired by Pulis should be up for the challenge. That makes the Baggies at their absurdly overpriced +425 soccer odds a good soccer pick to consider or the draw at +300 soccer odds.
