United States Starts Title Defense With Largest Win In a Women's World Cup Match

Match day five of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup kicked off in Paris and the defending champs dominated Thailand in historic fashion.

<p>The United States beat Thailand 13-0, their largest win in a Women's World Cup match. The previous record was their 7-0 victory in the 1991 Quarterfinal against Chinese Taipei.</p><p>The 13-0 final score also shattered the record for largest Women's World Cup win. The team's 4-3-3 formation, with Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and Tobin Heath leading the front line clearly paid dividends and they finished the first half with 15 shots and 73 percent possession.</p><p>The United States were <a href="https://www.sportsbookreview.com/betting-odds/womens-world-cup/usa-vs-thailand-3750230/odds/" target="_blank">clear favorites to win</a>, now they have five wins and two draws in opening matches in the history of the tournament.
