UFC Sacramento was an absolute blast! A solid night of fights capped off with some huge upsets and the return to glory by fan-favorite and UFC Hall of Famer Uriah Faber. We had a SOLID profitable night after starting our evening off with a robbery decision going 3-1 on the article picks! I don’t care what you say, Vince Morales won that fight and that was a perfect example of some home cooking out in cali! Faber looked better than he ever has finishing his opponent in the very first round and was the biggest upset on the card. Vettori kept to the game plan perfectly and just handled Cezar over 3 rounds. Both Emmett and Germaine got it dont via KO in the first round and while the main event’s stoppage may have been just a little early I believe that was how the fight was going to end either way.
This week the UFC heads off to San Antonio Texas for another free fight and we need to get on our knees and thank the UFC and Dana White for this spectacular run of MMA we are on! Even the events without “star power’ have been delivering! Every single person has come to fight and win or lose gambling these have been some entertaining weekends! UFC on ESPN 4 is headlined by constant title contender Raphael Dos Anjos and dark horse Leon Edwards and that will be a banger! We will break down the main event a little later in the week, today we are looking at the co-main event where Aleksei Oleinik faces Walk Harris.
Plain and simple this is Walt’s first real step into the deep end of the UFC’s heavyweight division. Oleynik has been around forever and only loses to legitimate top talent. The Boa Constrictor is a perfect name for this man because he is a submission specialist and has an unmatched squeeze. If he gets you in a choke you are NOT getting out and its just a matter of time before you tap or sleep. Alexey is 57-12 in his MMA career facing Walt who is 12-7. Walt is a middle of the road heavyweight and Alexey feeds on those. In Alexey’s last 6 he has only lost to fellow legend Alistair Overeem and HOT young prospect Curtis Blaydes. He has submitted all 4 of his other opponents. In fact of his 9 UFC fights he has finished all 6 wins. Walt has a basic game and he is powerful so there is the threat of the knockout but his one forey into the deep end of the heavyweight picture was against another submission specialist in Fabricio Werdum and he got arm-bared in 1 minute. Alexey has the record for Ezekiel chokes in the UFC and the thing about that choke is that the only defense for it is to not get into it in the first place and I don’t know that a fighter like Walt will be able to stop that from happening. I’ve got the Boa by round 1 submission here.
