Derrick Lewis is a very large man, but he’s a small favorite on the UFC odds board for Saturday’s Fight Night 110 main event (Sunday in New Zealand) with Mark Hunt.

This must be a gap year for the UFC. It was in Sweden last week, then Brazil for Saturday’s big UFC 212 pay-per-view and now headed for New Zealand. It’s Fight Night 110 from Spark Arena in Auckland, which means we’re going toe-to-toe with the International Date Line. It’ll be Sunday in the Antipodes, but if you’re watching Fox Sports 1 the main card begins at 10 p.m. Eastern on Saturday.

Of course, you should watch every single fight, starting at 7 p.m. with the preliminary card on UFC Fight Pass. But as we go to press, only the main event and the co-main are up on the UFC odds board. First up, it’s Derek Brunson (-275) taking on Daniel Kelly in the middleweight division. Then the heavyweights go at it: Derrick Lewis (-120) and local hero Mark Hunt, over a quarter-ton of humanity between them.

And Then Mr. Lewis

You may recall Lewis (18-4, 1 NC lifetime; 9-2 UFC) for his impressive knockout win over Travis Browne (–125) this past February in Halifax, Nova Scotia – and the entertaining interview Lewis gave afterward. The former Legacy FC heavyweight champ has won his last six fights, five of those by KO or TKO. They call him “The Black Beast” for a reason.

Unfortunately, Hunt (12-11-1, 1 NC lifetime; 7-5-1, 1 NC UFC) will probably be remembered for losing by unanimous decision to Brock Lesnar (+110) last July at UFC 200, a decision that was thrown out when Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene. Hunt is a big hitter himself, putting down the likes of Frank Mir (-113) and Antonio Silva (+185) in recent years, but the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix champ hasn’t quite made it to the top of the heavyweight division. He’s 43 years old now. It’s probably not going to happen.

I'll chance it again...

If Derrick Lewis vs Mark Hunt doesn't end in a TKO/KO, then I'll follow everyone who Retweets this. #NotScared 😂

Given the size of these monsters and their propensity for knocking out their opponents – or getting knocked out, in Hunt’s case – we’re happy to recommend going to the props market for your UFC picks. You can get this fight to end inside the distance at -675, but why not shave off some of that chalk and take “Fight Won’t Start Round 5” at -388? Lewis has never fought five rounds and only has three three-round decisions in 23 career fights. Hunt has seen the fifth round just twice, and only five of his 25 fights have gone the distance. We’ll buy that for a dollar.
