Saturday night's UFC 206 has been rife with issues. And the latest happened Friday when Anthony Pettis missed weight for his interim featherweight title bout against Max Holloway. The fight will go on, but Pettis can't win the interim title now.

This card in Toronto, the UFC's first visit to the city in three years, was to be headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight between champion Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson, but that had to be postponed because of an injury suffered by Cormier a few weeks ago.

So Pettis-Holloway was moved up to the main event. However, it's only for the interim featherweight title because UFC's recognized champion is Jose Aldo after former champion Conor McGregor had the belt stripped from him earlier this  month after he won the lightweight title at UFC 205 over Eddie Alvarez last month in New York City.

Aldo, then, was to fight the Pettis-Holloway winner sometime in 2017 for the undisputed featherweight title. But Pettis (19-5) was 148 pounds at the official weigh-in Friday, exceeding the allowed weight of 145. Holloway (16-3) came in at 145 pounds. The UFC didn't want to cancel the headline event so it will go on, but it is now an interim title fight for Holloway only. If Pettis wins, he won't be an interim champion.

Pettis had fought at lightweight for  much of his career and was a former WEC and UFC champion there. But after a three-fight losing streak at lightweight, he moved down to featherweight and submitted Charles Oliveira in August. So what does the UFC do if Pettis wins? Who fights Aldo?

“If Pettis wins, I’ve got to decide if I want him to fight for the 145-pound (title),” UFC president Dana White said. “I don’t know if he can make the weight.”

Pettis is currently a +195 underdog against Holloway (-235) at 5Dimes UFC odds.
