UFC 200 features the return of former heavyweight king Brock Lesnar as he takes on Super Samoan Mark Hunt. Let’s see what the UFC odds are dealing for propositions here.

Will the Fight Go the Distance?
Yes +375
No -700

Here we have two middle-aged monsters clashing inside the Octagon with neither fighter known for leaving decisions in the judge’s hands. Lesnar has had a grand total of eight MMA fights, all in the UFC, and only one result was rendered by the judge’s scorecards. On the other side Mark Hunt has had 23 MMA bouts and only three were ended in regulation. Therefore, it would be a pretty safe assumption that not only will this not go to the final bell but you better not make a run to the refrigerator because it could be lights out for one of the combatants in the time it takes to crack a cold one.

However, I like a live underdog when I see it and the fact that Lesnar has been out of the MMA spotlight and the Octagon since 2011 will undoubtedly be evident when he climbs inside the cage with Mark Hunt. I have heard whispers that Lesnar will attempt to take this fight to the mat and avoid the devastating hooks and haymakers that Mark Hunt is fully capable of delivering. As many of you know, Lesnar was a highly decorated Division 1 wrestling champion and he could change the game on Hunt if he made this a grappling contest and not a slugfest.

Let’s not forget that Hunt’s last decision came against Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in a five-round main event affair back in 2013. If Lesnar can take Hunt to the canvas, this could be a totally different fight than the one everyone anticipated. As I peruse the UFC odds I see we can get +375 on this prop to go the distance. I like it.

Total Rounds 1½
Over +155
Under -220

For all the reasons I articulated above, I say the best course of action is to include over 1 ½ rounds in our UFC picks here. Once the fighters get beyond the opening round this could be a much more tactical fight than many would expect. Brock Lesnar, at nearly 39, is no spring chicken and Mark Hunt is still knocking people senseless at 42 years of age. Yet, at 6’3” Lesnar will tower over the 5’10” Hunt and has the reach to stay away from those devastating strikes that Hunt uses like sledgehammers.

There is no doubt this has the potential to be two minutes of fistic mayhem but Lesnar has been down this road before and understands his adversary’s strengths and weaknesses. I believe strategy will trump recklessness in this clash of two MMA titans. We’re going over and grabbing the juice instead of laying it on the best UFC Prop Odds available.

Method of Victory
Mark Hunt wins inside distance -110
Mark Hunt wins by decision +550
Brock Lesnar wins inside distance +185
Brock Lesnar wins by decision +500
Draw +9900

I believe this fight could see the end of the third round and the onus placed on the judge’s to decide which fighter will have his hand raised. If this match does go the distance you can be certain that Lesnar taking Hunt to the mat will be responsible for much of the clock ticking away.

If we go with that theory, then there would be very little reason to believe that Brock Lesnar won’t come away with the decision. He will own Hunt on the mat and thus gain traction with the judges. We will take a flier on getting a big price in this one.
