Now that the Great Conor McGregor Panic of 2016 has abated, we can get back to looking at what's on the MMA odds board for Saturday's UFC 197 card in Las Vegas.

What is it with people and Twitter these days? Conor McGregor (or someone on his team) posts a tweet that says he's going to retire young, and everyone goes bonkers. Tributes and career retrospectives are hastily written. Turns out McGregor's not retiring just yet; he's merely in some kind of Floyd Mayweather-esque power struggle with Dana White and the UFC.

Meanwhile, did you know there's a big pay-per-view this Saturday? Well, of course you know about UFC 197, because you're a sharp cookie who's capable of reading more than 140 characters at a time. Let's take a gander at what prop bets are on the UFC odds board for Saturday's card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

2.5 Rounds
There are two championship fights headlining the main card – if you consider the Interim Light Heavyweight title to be a real thing. Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux will be fighting for that belt in the main event, after champion Daniel Cormier pulled out with a foot injury. We've already tabbed Jones –502 as our official UFC pick here at the home office, but if you haven't already picked him up, it'll cost you a premium in chalk; Jones is back up to –600 at most outlets as we go to press.

Or you could trim some of that chalk by grabbing one of these UFC prop bets. The Total Rounds bet is one of my personal favorites. In this case, we've got a total of 2.5 rounds, with the OVER priced at +165 and the UNDER at –205. That looks like good value for the OVER. Each of the last three Jones fights went the distance, and three of the last five Saint Preux fights went at least 12.5 minutes. The underdog is built for speed, not stamina, but Jones might want to play it cautiously in the early rounds and avoid Saint Preux's counterattack.

Super Fly
The “real” main event at UFC 197 features Flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (23-2-1 lifetime, 11-1-1 UFC) defending his belt against Henry Cejudo (10-0 lifetime, 4-0 UFC), a gold-medal wrestler for Team USA at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Cejudo made his MMA debut in 2013, winning the Bantamweight strap for the World Fighting Federation before joining the UFC the following year.

This fight is much more likely to go the full five rounds, as you might expect in this division. There's a total of 4.5 rounds up on the board at press time; the OVER is priced at around –190, with the UNDER at +161. For even less chalk, there's a simple YES/NO prop for whether they'll go the distance; we're making YES our recommended pick here at the ranch, especially if this bargain price at Ladbrokes is still available when you get there. Shop smart, and may the Octagon be with you.
