Recent UFC odds betting trends on Conor McGregor have demonstrated the public, the sharps or a combination of both get down early on the Dublin Destroyer leaving those who wait to lay more juice on fight night. It appears the steam is on McGregor yet again.

Historically Speaking
The bookmakers have been getting shelled with Conor McGregor money over his last four fights and it appears nothing has changed for his showdown with Chad Mendes at UFC 189. We can even see this betting trend evidenced in the UFC odds when he was initially scheduled to fight Jose Aldo until the champ pulled out with a rib injury. In that matchup McGregor opened as high as +145 at Bovada but the betting public couldn’t get enough action down on the challenger and soon the underdog became a fairly chalky favorite as McGregor settled at -150 in virtually all the major sportsbooks including Bovada before the fight was scratched.

In the chart below we can clearly see that McGregor has been bet heavily in his last five fights including this current bout with Mendes. Needless to say he has paid dividends to those who bet him early and even those who laid the heavy lumber by betting him late.

Will McGregor Live Up to the Hype?
The books have adjusted their  UFC odds quickly to accommodate the wave of money being bet on McGregor and are hoping that enough punters will see their way clear to Mendes being a very live dog. If you liked Chad Mendes before then you have to love him now. While most offshores are offering McGregor -175 with a +150 return on Mendes there are books like DSI.com that have skyrocketed the juice on McGregor at -200 yet are still returning +150 on Mendes. If you want every nickel you can squeeze on Mendes then might I suggest you shop on over to 5Dimes where they are returning a generous +158 on “Money” Mendes.

If you believe that McGregor’s wave of success inside the Octagon and at the betting windows will continue then don’t wait, because recent history tells us this line will continue to spike. However if you are inclined to not only take a stab at McGregor as the victor but also bet him in one of the many UFC props then you may want to consider what Dana white divulged on the Jim Rome Show on Tuesday:

"You want to know how confident this kid is?" White asked. "I can't even believe I'm going to say this, but, he told Lorenzo and I the other day ‘I'll bet you $3 million I knock him out in the second round.'"

If McGregor is willing to bet $3 million on a KO in Round 2 then perhaps it might be worth a few bucks to tail him, yes? The UFC prop odds on making that prediction become a reality is as follows:

McGregor Wins Inside the Distance: Yes -125 best line at Bovada

McGregor Wins by KO, TKO or DQ:  +100 best line at Bovada

Total Rounds:  Under 2 ½ -115 best line at 888sport

McGregor Wins in Round 2:  +505 best line at 5Dimes.
