UEFA Europa League is sure to lose one of its top 2 favourites by the conclusion of the tie between Wolfsburg & Napoli. As a result, it's the MUST-SEE billing of the quarterfinal round.

Wolfsburg Top Faves To Win It All
Wolfsburg have emerged as the top favourites on the UEFA Europa League Odds board in the midst of the knockouts. Currently, they are trading as the +300 soccer pick to win it all. However, Die Wölfe (the Wolves) will have all to do to come through as the competition's top favourites when they take on Napoli in the quarterfinal round, second favourites in futures betting markets, matched at +450 soccer odds to lift the coveted trophy.

Bundesliga High Flyers
Wolfsburg are flying high in Bundesliga this season, second in the table with a 16-6-4 mark and 54 points. It would be nice to say they are giving Bayern Munich a run for their money for the domestic title, but that wouldn't be the truth. They are ten points adrift of Bayern Munich and a +10000 long shot soccer pick to win it all. As is always the case of late, Bayern Munich's preordained right to win the Bundesliga title every season has gone unchallenged. That the book is still open on the faux race is for posturing, a symbolic gesture until Bayern's win becomes official. It's only a matter of time now.

Nevertheless, Wolfsburg are enjoying a banner season in Germany's top flight. That form seems to have spilt forth into their European campaign as well. In group play, Wolfsburg finished a narrow second to Everton in Group H, just a point adrift after going 3-1-2. They went 1-1-1 at home and 2-0-1 on the road. If there were a slight criticism, it would be their goal differential: they netted 14 goals but conceded 10. That said, those numbers are skewed by a 6-1 loss to Everton over two legs.

In the knockouts, they eliminated some tough opponents. First they dumped Sporting CP 2-0 on aggregate in the R32. Then they went on to dismiss Italian hopefuls Inter Milan 5-2 on aggregate. Both times, Wolfsburg started on home turf and raced to a comfortable lead, which they then didn't surrender in the ensuing away leg.

Once again, the Wolves start at home when they take on Napoli at the VfL Volkswagen Arena in Wolfsburg. They'll hope to sink their teeth into this matchup with a solid showing on home turf, and the odds makers seem to support that objective by installing them as the -125 favourites to win the first leg.

Napoli Set To Face First Test In Knockouts
Napoli's journey through the UEFA Europa League s has been a charming sojourn so far,  from the group stage and through the first couple of knockout rounds. They won a tough Group I behind a 4-1-1 mark, a point ahead of Young Boys and two points ahead of Sparta Praha. While both the Young Boys and Sparta Praha presented some opposition – Napoli lost to Young Boys and succumbed to the draw against Sparta Praha (both on the away) – the Italians still managed to live up to their billing as the favourites in the section.

Over two rounds of the knockouts, Napoli faced lesser opposition and pulled off the job according to soccer betting market expectations, all while remaining undefeated both home and away. In the R32, they beat Trabzonspor comprehensively (5-0 on aggregate). In the R16, they dismissed Dinamo Moskva 3-1 on aggregate, after winning the first leg 3-1 (at home) and settling on a scoreless draw in Moscow.

For the first time in this competition, Napoli's merit as the second favourites to win it all is going to put to the test. If the soccer odds were any indication, the prognosis isn't favourable where they are concerned. They enter the first leg as the decided underdogs at +333 to win outright, which is the largest price tag of all the away teams in action on April 16 when the quarterfinals gets off the mark. Is that a telling sign?

Soccer Betting Verdict
This pair is undeniably the class of UEFA Europa League, fittingly priced atop the UEFA Europa League odds board as the favourites. It's unfortunate that the competition is going to bid farewell to one when all is said and done at the end of the quarterfinal round, but that's down to the luck of the draw.

So, the pressing question in soccer betting circles is which side is the best bet to back? Obviously, there's a lot to recommend each side. As far as our soccer pick are concerned, we're leaning towards Wolfsburg to come through as the -125 home favourites in the first leg. They've been money so far and there's no reason to assume that would change. In the last round, they got the better of Inter Milan 5-2 on aggregate. Having that experience against a Serie A side is only going to send them into this clash with a measure of confidence.
