Tim Sherwood returns to White Hart Lane, hoping to guide Aston Villa to a win over Tottenham. Check out what kind of sports picks we like most for this weekend's league clash in London.

Odds Overview
Spurs are favored in a wide range that starts at -165 and goes all the way up to -185 at some of the top sportsbooks.

There's a pretty plump price sitting on Aston Villa's head in what will be Tim Sherwood's return to White Hart Lane. The Villains are quoted at anywhere from +500 to +500 when we look over the Soccer betting odds. Meanwhile, the O/U is at 2.5 goals and most of the action (-130) is coming in on the OVER at time of this writing.

It's been almost an entire week since Tottenham's disappointing result against Burnley. Spurs had been on a decent roll, but were unable to get anything going at all in a 0-0 away draw against the relegation-threatened Clarets.

That one point means Tottenham can be found in sixth place in the Premier League standings, tied on points alongside Liverpool, a team that's been struggling of late. Those two outfits are now seven points back of Manchester City for the fourth spot in the table (and thus Champions League qualification), so Spurs will have to close out the season on quite the winning run to have any chance of catching up.

It starts this weekend at home to Villa. Tottenham has been playing well at White Hart Lane recently, going unbeaten in five straight matches across all competitions. They've beaten Swansea City (3-2) and Leicester City (4-3) in their two most recent matches at home and will be looking to make it three wins on the trot against the Villains. As usual, Harry Kane will be leading the attack and will the focus of Aston Villa's defensive attention throughout.

Aston Villa
Villa has hit somewhat of a cold spell in recent weeks, having failed to win any of their last three matches. The Villains lost to Swansea City and Manchester City and then drew with QPR 3-3 this past week.

It was a thrilling match from start to finish in a rare Tuesday encounter between Rangers and the Villains. For Villa, it was one man who stole the show, that being striker Christian Benteke, who scored all three goals in the draw. Obviously, Sherwood's group was lacking quite a bit defensively, and that has to be a concern ahead of this trip to take on Kane and Tottenham.

However, getting Benteke back in goalscoring form is huge and that could be exactly what Villa needs to stay clear of the relegation zone. Right now they're only three points ahead of the bottom three, so they need to keep focused on the task at hand as the season draws to a close.

Premier League Pick
Call us crazy, but we think Sherwood will have a trick or two up his sleeve for this return to London. He knows this Tottenham team well and should have some tactics in mind to slow them down.

The trickiest part, obviously, will be to try and contain Kane, who has been in incredible form this season. Few teams have been able to corral him, and we don't really expect him to be kept off the clean sheet against these Villains either.

However, we do expect a gritty performance from Villa, and we like this team's chances of earning at least a point. There's no doubt Benteke and company have been playing more entertaining (and effective) soccer since Sherwood was brought to the club, so let's see if that can carry over into this weekend's showdown at White Hart Lane. Back a draw with your soccer picks, or consider taking Villa on a handicap wager of some sort.
