Tottenham vs. Watford Game Overview & Betting Analysis
Watford have had a great season and look set to remain in the top flight for 2016-17 after investing heavily in the squad. A well-fought draw with a resurgent Chelsea in their last game showed just how far they have come since playing Championship football last season. But they will struggle against a superb young Tottenham side going from strength to strength.

Mauricio Pocchetino has inspired his young charges to play an energetic brand of football reliant on hard pressing and it has paid dividends. After five wins in a row – three of them in the league – they have climbed above local rivals Arsenal into third in the table. They are just five points behind unfancied league leaders Leicester City and as low as +500 to win the league with some sportsbooks.

Dele Alli and Eric Dier are in superb form in the midfield, Hugo Lloris has been solid in goal, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have formed an excellent partnership at centre-half, and local lad Harry Kane has been leading the line very well up front, banging in lots of important goals.

Tottenham should have enough about them to claim victory in this match. But the -200 on offer (best priced at BetVictor, William Hill, PaddyPower, Betfred and Stan James) is not particularly appealing unless you have a lot of money to lay down. You can get +350 on the draw with Sky Bet and Bet Victor, and +650 on a Watford win with bookmakers including Bet Victor and Ladbrokes. But given Tottenham’s superb recent form, it is difficult to justify betting on anything other than a victory for Spurs. They have home advantage and will be desperate to keep up the pressure on the league leaders and stay ahead of Arsenal.

It is, therefore, worthwhile looking at ways to make betting on them more profitable. You can get +125 with Betfred on them to be winning at half-time and full-time, which looks an interesting bet. An even better bet looks to be the +110 Stan James is offering on Tottenham to win and there to be fewer than 3.5 goals. The soccer odds are good because Tottenham have been involved in a lot of high scoring games of late.

However, the same cannot be said about Watford. Only three Watford games all season in any competition have seen more than 3.5 goals. They are a relatively solid team, with Etienne Capoue patrolling the midfield, and they don’t concede many goals. The match against Chelsea was further proof of their defensive solidity. The Blues had smashed five past the MK Dons in their previous game and were finding great form under caretaker boss Guus Hiddink, with the likes of Oscar, Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Eden Hazard finally rediscovering the form that drove Chelsea to the title last season. But they could not find a way past the Watford backline. You would expect Tottenham to succeed where Chelsea failed, but not too many times.

Anytime goal scorer betting also looks interesting. Kane is naturally the favorite and -105 and it is worth taking a punt on him as he scores so frequently. He has found deadly form of late and netted twice in a 3-0 win over Norwich in their last game. But it is also worth hedging your bet and going for Alli to score at any time too. The 19-year-old has scored in his last two games – including a goal of the season contender against Crystal Palace – and just seems to grow in confidence every week, having already broken into the England team. He plays in the hole behind Kane and takes up several dangerous positions throughout the game, making the +225 on offer with Boyle Sports for him to score at any time good value for your soccer picks.
