Top Three Soccer Picks Across Europe to Play This Saturday

There are some big games with interesting betting odds on Saturday with the Madrid derby, the Merseyside derby and Juventus AC Milan the three picks from William Hill's Lee Phelps.

Atletico Madrid vs. Real Madrid
Diego Simeone’s side need to win to realistically maintain their chances of retaining the La Liga title. It’s equally as important to Real Madrid, who would let Barcelona back in, if they beat Athletic Bilbao.

Team news is in Atleti’s favour with Rodriguez, Ramos, Pepe and Marcello all out with injury or suspension. The home team are missing Thuram, but there is one piece of team news that supersedes all other: Cristiano Ronaldo returns to action after his ban having celebrated his 30th birthday this week.

I have two  soccer picks here. One revolves around CR7 and his goal scoring ability which I’m sure you’re aware of! He has scored six goals in his last three games at Estadio Vicente Calderon, he’s on penalties and free kicks of course and already has 14 away goals this season (38% of his team’s away goals).

Goals look to be in the offing here too, because Simeone’s team are no longer the defensive force they were last season. If you compare their record, they had 12 clean sheets from 19 in the La Liga campaign. So far this time it’s four from 11.

Normally I would shy away from Ronaldo bets, because of the price but at 2.4 (7/5) you have to back Ronaldo to score at any time.

If you want one more, look at a lot of bookings. The last six head-to-heads have featured 57 yellow cards and one red, so an average of almost 10 cards per game.

Free Soccer Pick: Cristiano Ronaldo to score anytime 2.4 (7/5)

Everton vs. Liverpool
Passion, history, bad tempers and goals! Well, I’m hoping for the last one to be fair, but I’m expecting an open, exciting game.

That is despite Liverpool’s run of three clean sheets in their last three Premier League away games and under 2.5 goals landing in all of them. Add to that Everton’s last three home games featuring three goals and three clean sheets and you probably think I’m mad predicting lots of goals.

I see Everton boss Roberto Martinez using this game as a catalyst for their season and attacking Liverpool early and fast. The teams’ scorers have good records against each other with Daniel Sturridge having managed five goals in his last six Premier League appearances against the Blues.

Steven Gerrard has five goals and two assists in his last six and on the home side Romalu Lukaku has managed four in his last five against the Reds.

Free Soccer Pick: Over 3.5 goals 3.4 (12/5)

Juventus vs. AC Milan
Milan beat Parma relatively easily in their last game, but are a way off Juve this season. The home record is great, you have to go back 39 games for Juve’s last defeat there.

Defensively Milan have serious problems in defence, even the hapless Parma tested them. Since Jan 1st they have conceded 81 shots on their goal and have had no clean sheets and have been playing other poor teams too.

The question isn’t if Juventus win, but how they win to find the value on soccer odds board. They are (4/11) to win, so if you like a play at that price, be my guest, I’m going to look for more.

Carlos Tevez has been talking about this fixture and how big it still is, and the fact he has scored in both of the last two head-to-heads.

He has already bagged 18 goals this season too, so in a game where I see over 3.5 goals being a play, Tevez to score in a Juventus win is my play here at 2.7 (17/10).

Free Soccer Pick: Tevez to score and Juventus to win 2.7 (17/10)
