Petra Kvitova (14) vs. Elina Svitolina (22)
After reaching the US Open quarter-finals for the first time in 2015, Petra Kvitova is looking for another successful campaign in New York, with the Czech reaching the 3rd round for the 7th time on her career. Even though Petra is always an extremely dangerous player, the Czech is far from reliable on this event where the tough weather conditions usually aggravate her asthma problems. Kvitova reaches this stage of the competition after two tough victories against Jelena Ostapenko and Cagla Buyukakcay.

After an impressive performance in New Haven with Elina Svitolina losing only in the final against Agnieszka Radwanska, the Ukrainian is for the second consecutive year on this event’s main draw. Known for her terrific baseline movement, Svitolina is never an easy opponent to face, especially on Hard Court where she holds her best results with a 67.02% winning record while her overall winning record is 62.29%.

These two players will face each other for the fifth time on their careers with Kvitova leading on the h2h by 3 – 1.

Looking now to their previous encounters, the last one took place a few weeks ago in Rio de Janeiro, with Kvitova emerging victorious by 6 – 2 6 – 0. Despite that big win from the Czech, things should be different this time, with Petra struggling to perform at a consistent level after an outstanding defender. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to take advantage of the value on Svitolina’s betting odds by placing a bet on the Ukrainian set handicap.

Free Tennis Pick: Elina Svitolina +1.5 Set Handicap (-120)
Best Line Offered: at Pinnacle

Johanna Konta (13) vs. Belinda Bencic (24)
It hasn’t been an easy year for Belinda Bencic, with the Suisse struggling with several physical issues. However, Belinda is slowly returning to her best level and after a tough first round match against Samantha Crawford, Bencic clearly raised her level on the following round against Andrea Petkovic, dismissing the German by 6 – 3 6 – 2. Known for her terrific counter punching skills, Bencic won 56.06% of the points played on Petkovic’s serve, ending the match with 24 winners / 21 unforced errors.

Johanna Konta reaches this stage of the competition after a controversial victory against Tsvetana Pironkova, in a match where the British collapsed during the second set but had more than 15 minutes to recover from that situation. After losing the second set, Konta also requested a toilet break, which allowed her to regain her momentum and book a place in the US Open third round for the second consecutive year. Looking now to Johanna’s stats, the British player clearly struggled to maintain a consistent level, with 38 winners / 46 unforced errors.

This will be the 4th career meeting between these two players, with Bencic leading on the h2h by 2 – 1.

A hot day is expected this Friday in New York, which is not a positive thing for Konta. Adding to this, Bencic is playing at a very good level on this event and for that reason, we expect a much closer contest than the odds suggest. Having said that, our recommendation is for you to add Bencic’s set handicap to your betting picks, in a match where the value is clearly on the Suisse player.
