After a slow start in Melbourne – with David Goffin playing a five-set battle against Reilly Opelka – the Belgian didn’t experience any problems on his following two matches against Radek Stepanek and Ivo Karlovic. The world no.11 is trying to go a step further this season after losing to Roger Federer in the 2016 Australian Open 4th round. Known for his incredible counter punching skills, Goffin ended the match against Karlovic with impressive numbers on return – winning 37.18% of the points played on the Croatian’s serve.

It hasn’t been an easy start of the season for Dominic Thiem with the Austrian struggling to perform at his best on a consistent basis. However, Dominic is for the first time in the Australian Open 4th round after a 6 – 1 4 – 6 6 – 4 6 – 4 victory over Benoit Paire. Despite his triumph, Thiem was far from reliable on serve. Besides facing a total of 17 break points throughout the match, the world no.8 only won 62.35% of the points played with his first serve.

These two players know each other very well. Not only are they good friends of the court but this is also their 9th career meeting with Goffin leading on the h2h by 5 – 3.

Even though Thiem won their last encounter at the French Open, Goffin clearly holds the edge on faster surfaces. David doesn’t give any time for Dominic to prepare his powerful groundstrokes and that should be the key for his victory in this match. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to add Goffin to your betting picks.

Roberto Bautista Agut (13) vs. Milos Raonic (3)

As we predicted in our ATP Australian Open Day 6 analysis, David Ferrer couldn’t find an answer to Roberto Bautista Agut’s consistency. Both players performed at a very high level with Bautista Agut emerging victorious by 7 – 5 6 – 7 7 – 6 6 – 4 after more than four hours on court. Looking now to some of Roberto’s stats throughout this event, the Spaniard only won 81.60% of his service games, which might not be enough when facing the top players. Bautista Agut is still looking for his first career appearance in the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam after six prior defeats in the 4th round.

Milos Raonic continues his quest to leave Melbourne with his first Grand Slam title. After Novak Djokovic’s elimination, Raonic is now the main favorite to reach the final in the bottom half of the draw. Despite losing a set in the previous round against Gilles Simon, Milos featured a very solid performance with 21 aces, 55 winners, and only 34 unforced errors. After his victory against Simon, the 2016 semi-finalist increased his winning record in Melbourne to 80.65%.

This will be the 5th career meeting between these two players with Raonic winning all their previous encounters.

Even though Bautista Agut is never an easy opponent due to his extremely solid baseline game, Raonic is clearly a terrible match-up for him. The Canadian is playing at a very high level and it’s unlikely to see an upset here. Having said that, we recommend you to take advantage of Raonic's betting odds by splitting your stake among his spread and also his set handicap.
