Over in the Champions League Group B the big game is the winner takes all clash between Galatasaray and Juventus. Only one side will come out on top come the final whistle, but if you follow your Humble Handicapper’s soccer picks you can be a winner come full time.

Brass tacks to start with

Put quite simply a win for Galatasaray would see them go through on seven points (one ahead of Juventus). Juventus, playing away from home, will qualify in second spot with a draw or a win. The group will be won by Real Madrid, and I think now is the perfect time to remind you all that your Humble Handicapper predicted they would not be defeated in the Group stages of this year’s Champions League.

(As a little aside Copenhagen can finish third and a Europa League place if they get a point or better at Real Madrid and Juventus beat Galatasaray.

Enough with the Europa League…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

Juventus are 3/10 to qualify and Galatasaray are 3/2. While turning those odds upside down we have Galatasaray at 7/2 to finish bottom of Group B and Juventus at 9/1.

The simple odds show us just who the sporstbooks fancy in this one. Galatasaray are 16/5 to come out on top while a draw is at 27/10 and a Juventus win is at Evens.

The shortest correct score odds are on a 1-1 draw at 7/1, but the bookies then offer up three Juventus victories (2-1, 1-0 and 2-0) before they fancy a Galatasaray win. The shortest soccer odds on the correct score on a Gala win are 10/1 on 2-1.

The Italians have been on an impressive run of form and are unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions but the home side have a nine-game unbeaten record against Italian opponents (at the Türk Telekom Arena).

Adding up the goals there’s clear reason to back a Juventus win, they’ve scored 11 goals in their last five outings and have conceded just one, that’s four games with cleans sheets two home and two away. Juventus winning to nil is at 11/4, but I feel that Galatasaray will get a goal. You may ask why, especially as Juventus are so tight at the back and it is because Galatasaray have scored in every one of their last four games, clocking up six goals in that run, and haven’t let one in since (two) back on 10th November away to Fenerbache.

And the last time these sides met we saw four goals in a 2-2 thriller.

Other than the obvious

Why not back Didier Drogba to get a goal at 9/4 (or to open the scoring at 7/1), as he has a little bit of history when it comes to eliminating Juventus from the Champions League, he scored in both games for his old club Chelsea, when the Blues beat the Serie A club 3-2 over two legs back in 2008-09.

Looking further ahead for a little bit of long perspective, Juventus are 25/1 to actually win the Champions League and Galatasaray are 750/1.

Prediction: Juventus win 2-1 available at best soccer odds of 17/2 with BetVictor.
