Jordan’s WNBA Picks 5-11-1
Las Vegas Aces at LA Sparks
After watching the Sun get stunned last night by the league’s worst team, it’s time to reevaluate our rest of season outlook. It could just be a one-off, but it could also be an example of the WNBA’s parity.
Speaking of parity, the expansion Aces and the newly re-stocked Sparks are two teams that have deep title run potential. They face off tonight in LA and the first half total is calling my name.
Both of these teams play up in pace and the sportsbooks have started to recognize that as the first half total has been pounded since they opened this morning.
The Aces come into tonight with the league’s fastest first half pace of 103.7. while the Sparks aren’t too far behind at 98.4. On top of that, the Sparks see their first-half pace increase to 101.2 in their three home games so far this season, so if that continues, we could see a ton of shot attempts from both squads in this first half.
The Sparks will also have their hands full with the Aces and it’s not only their talented frontcourt. Vegas is averaging 104.6 points per 100 possessions in the first halves of their games, which is the second-best mark in the W this season behind only the Mystics.
Add in the Sparks are still allowing more than 100 points per 100 possessions in the first halves of their games and we could see both teams well into the 40s tonight before defense takes over in the second.
Add in the Sparks’ 111.6 first half defensive rating over their last five contests and I’m adding the over in the 1H to my WNBA Picks tonight.
My Pick: Over 1H
Best Line Offered: Pinnacle
