Jordan’s WNBA Picks: 20-19-1
Dallas Wings at LA Sparks

WNBA Pick: Sparks 1Q ATS

I got a new respect for the Dallas Wings on Wednesday. They hustled, defended, and executed yesterday against the Phoenix Mercury, who vastly underestimated them in the first half. Even though the Mercury won the game SU, the Wings covered the first half and full game spreads.
However, now Dallas has to play on the second day of a back-to-back and they are doing it against arguably a tougher opponent. The Mercury were without Diana Taurasi on Wednesday and it showed.
Now the Wings will have to find a way to slow down the Ogwumike sisters on Thursday on the second half of a rare back-to-back. The Wings do get some help though from the Sparks’ injuries.
Candace Parker is doubtful for Thursday and Riquana Williams was just suspended, so she is out Thursday and beyond. That leaves some holes offensively for the Sparks that the Wings could take advantage of.
So, despite the back-to-back, the Wings have a chance here, but it doubt its early in the game. The back-to-back might weigh on them heavily and so far, their first quarters on the road have been pretty bad this season.
Dallas is allowing 113.7 points per 100 possessions in the first quarters of their road games this season and over their most recent four road games, that number shoots up to 123.4.
The Sparks on the other hand have been playing a lot better lately. Even without Williams and Parker, they should be able to score against what should be a tired Dallas team.
LA has also been really good in the first quarters of their recent home games. Over their last three home first quarters, the Sparks are averaging 111.1 points per 100 possessions, while allowing just 93.8.
Some of these are smaller sample sizes, but with the Wings playing on no rest, I think the Sparks can take advantage early in this one.
