The Predator. Ngannou. Frankie Murder. We know him by many names and very soon we will know him as champion. Francis Ngannou is one of the freakiest athletes you will ever see and he is the heir to the UFC’s Heavyweight division. Make no mistake. He is the baddest man on the planet he just needs a little time to prove it.

The term “Death Touch’ gets thrown around in MMA and there are only two individuals who I truly associate with this word. The first is Anthony “Rumble’ Johnson and the second is Frankie Ngannou. Ngannou came out of nowhere and stunned the world while he rode his rocket ship to the heavyweight title where he faced former champion Stipe Miocic in 2018. This was very reminiscent of the great George St Pierre who was an undefeated fighter who we all knew was destined for greatness. Both men got to the title and we all were just waiting for them to be crowned, but the champions had other plans. Stipe was able to weather the early storm and then forced Ngannou to grind and wrestle for 25 full minutes which was something he had never had to do. The very first time this man was tested it was by the reigning champion and it was just too much too soon.

Ngannou has since been given time to grow and mature. After potentially the UFCs most boring fight in history against Derrick Lewis where Ngannou was too gun shy to pull the trigger he flatlined Curtis Blaydes and former champion Cain Velasquez. Now that Ngannou has regained his confidence he is ready to assault the top of the division and have another crack at the belt. Standing in his way is re-surging former champion Junior Dos Santos who has evolved in order to thrive in the UFCs deadly, hard hitting, heavyweight division.

Dos Santos is currently riding a 3 fight win streak with 2 of those 3 coming by round 2 KO over Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis. Dos Santos is hungry to get his belt back, but unfortunately he has become a little chinny in his later years. The only way that Dos Santos can win this is if he can manage to tire Ngannou out and put him away late or squeeze out a decision. The issue with that is he must go 25 minutes without getting that chin touched and I just don’t see that happening. I plan to use Ngannou in parlays and once the props drop taking him by KO is a no-brainer. Dos Santos is good, but he has never been a high caliber wrestler. His best weapon is his boxing and for that he needs to get in striking range. Ngannou has never been hurt or rocked, so I have no questions about his chin holding up and if JDS decides to take a shot to land a shot it will be a short night for him.
