Join us while we analyze the two top tennis picks for the Australian Open Day 3. Find out our two selections, where is the value and the best bookmaker to place your bet.

João Sousa (32) vs Santiago Giraldo
João Sousa will be looking for his second consecutive appearance on Australian Open third round. The Portuguese is a very competitive player, always trying to hit the ball early and control the rallies with his forehand. Sousa performed at very good level on the first round, defeating Mikhail Kukushkin in straight sets. The Portuguese ended that match with 36 winners / 24 unforced errors; however, he was only able to convert 6 of 22 break points.

For the fifth time on his career, Santiago Giraldo reaches the Australian Open second round. Santiago’s game style is more suitable for clay courts, but the Colombian can also be a very competitive player on Hard Courts. Giraldo likes to hit the ball very hard and he can be very dangerous when he’s in the zone. On the first round he defeated Donald Young 6 – 4 1 – 6 6 – 3 6 – 2, in a match where he was just too solid for the American.

Sousa is priced as moderate favorite; however, Giraldo leads 3 – 0 on h2h, with all those matches played on clay.

This won’t be such an easy match for Sousa and he’s clearly overrated for this contest. Giraldo knowns how to play against this opponent and there isn’t much separating both players. With this in mind, a very tough battle is expected between two great baseliners and for that reasons, we suggest to add the Over to your tennis picks.

Denisa Allertova vs Sabine Lisicki (30)
We picked Bethanie Mattek-Sands to beat Denisa Allertova on the previous round, yet the Czech played at a great level to defeat the American. As we mentioned, Denisa has very solid and powerful groundstrokes, ending the first round match with 42 winners / 36 unforced errors. After losing last year against Alize Cornet on Australian Open second round Allertova will try to get one step further this season.

The conditions in Melbourne aren’t the best for Sabine Lisicki massive serve and powerful forehand, with the German failing to reach the third round in 5 of her 7 previous appearances. Sabine is known for hitting the fastest serve in the history of the game at 131 mph (211 km/h), but that serve isn’t so effective on these courts. Sabine started with a great performance against another Czeck, Petra Cetkovska, not losing her serve a single time.

They played two years ago in Indoor Hard Court at WTA Luxembourg, where Allertova surprised Lisicki in straight sets.

This is a tough match-up for the German, Lisicki likes to have time to hit her forehand but Allertova doesn’t give much time to her opponents with her aggressive and powerful game style. This time we believe the value in on Allertova’s tennis odds and the Czech won’t go down easily. Our suggestion for this match is to split your stake on the Over and Allertova spread.
