With only eight players left in the competition we analyze the top play for your tennis picks this Friday on the WTA Quebec quarterfinals.

Annika Beck (5) vs Lucie Hradecka (4)
Annika Beck was our pick as a player to keep an eye on and the German is already in quarter-finals after two straight sets victories against Sharon Fichman and Andrea Hlavackova. As we mentioned in the tournament preview, Beck has great counter puncher skills that make her a good player in Indoor Hard Court.

The 2012 runner-up Lucie Hradecka is always extremely dangerous with her massive serve and powerful groundstrokes, however she struggles to perform at a consistent level. After a good win in first round against Donna Vekic, the second round was much tougher against Amandine Hesse losing first set 1 – 6 but managed to turn the match.

Hradecka destroyed Beck in their first meeting 6 – 1 6 – 1 in 2012 however since then Beck won three straight matches with the last one also in 2014. Hradecka has a stronger serve and can generate much more power with her groundstrokes but Beck likes to face this kind of players where her consistent game and counter puncher skills are very effective.

The biggest weapon of Hradecka’s game is her serve however this week she has been struggling with only 49% first serve. Lucie needs to increase those numbers against Beck otherwise the German will punish her with good returns to second serve and also because Annika is clearly superior on baseline rallies.

Our suggestion before the tournament was to open a position on Beck and we’ll keep with the 5th seed for this contest where there is good value on her tennis odds.

Tennis Pick: Annika Beck -2.5 at 2.03 for our tennis pick at Pinnacle
