The Birmingham Stallions were the last team to call themselves USFL champions before the league folded 36 years ago. The current iteration would love to pick up where their predecessors left off.

Head Coach Bart Andrus and his Philadelphia Stars took down a league giant last week to advance to the championship game. Another one lies in wait this week.

Here are my USFL picks and predictions for Sunday's championship game between the Stallions and Stars (odds via Caesars Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Birmingham walked away with the win in the Week 5 meeting between these teams. The Stallions held the Stars scoreless in the second half of that game en route to a 30-17 victory. They're coming off of a 31-17 win last week against the New Orleans Breakers, giving them back-to-back wins since the Gamblers handed them their first loss in Week 9.

Stallions -4.5 (-110)

The Stallions have only two wins this season that haven't covered this spread. Including the playoffs, their average margin of victory is just over seven points per game. Last week's win against the Breakers was by 14 points.

Week 5 against the Stars ended in a 30-17 score and was Birmingham's biggest win of the season at that point.

Stallions vs. Stars O/U Pick

Under 45 (-110)

Both of these teams are more than capable of scoring at will. Their defense and special teams can also put points on the board. Birmingham returned both a kickoff and an interception for a touchdown in their win last week. The Stars took a punt return to the house last week in their win against the New Jersey Generals.

Philadelphia has five games with more than 25 points this season. The Stallions have six such games including last week’s playoff game.
