The Birmingham Stallions will play away from home for the first time in 2021. Can they still win outside of the Magic City against the New Orleans Breakers? Let's examine the matchup in our Stallions-Breakers picks.

The Birmingham Stallions enjoyed home-field advantage throughout the 2022 USFL season. Now the team is set to play its first away game, with a shot at the championship on the line.

The playing field may be leveled just enough for the New Orleans Breakers to gain an advantage. But they'll still need to beat one of the league's best teams.

Here are my USFL Stallions-Breakers picks and predictions for Friday's game (odds via Caesars and DraftKings sportsbooks; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Birmingham’s only loss in 2022 came during Week 9 against the Houston Gamblers. The Stallions then bounced back to hang on for a 21-18 victory against the Bandits. Birmingham has won both regular-season games against the Breakers, including a 22-13 triumph in Week 3 and a 10-9 Week 8 win.

The Stallions will be tested now while not playing in front of a home crowd, but the club has proven it can win consistently.

Stallions vs. Breakers Spread Pick

Breakers +5 (-110)

The Stallions' largest winning margin has been a mere three points over the last three weeks. That includes a one-point win over the Breakers. They jumped out to an early 14-0 lead last week, only to allow the Tampa Bay Bandits to end the game within three points.

The Breakers held the lead heading into the fourth quarter in Week 8 against the Stallions. They would go on to lose, but only 10-9 while keeping it close. These teams aren't far removed from that outing, which means we're likely in for another tight contest.

Stallions vs. Breakers O/U Pick

Under 45 (-110)

Only one game featuring New Orleans in 2022 has exceeded this total. That came in Week 7 during a 31-27 result involving the Michigan Panthers. The Stallions haven't played a game with more than 45 points since Week 7.

Neither of the two regular-season clashes between these teams came close to reaching this mark. This matchup will likely be another low-scoring defensive battle with points at a premium, making the Under highly attractive.
